What Will Life Be Like Without President Bush
comments | sept 28-06 | ruready4eternity

Does anyone have any scenarios of what it will be like when this Chief steps down from office at the end of his term? I Mean, whats going to happen to this country? Will there be another "Burning Bush" in the WhiteHouse? WIll there be another President who will stand against the enemy with such military might and has the gonads to use alomost "any weapon" of choice to hunt these groups down? Maybe there will be a President that will conform to the UN ,slash Military spending, cut intel assets and funding and pull out the troops and show the world we are giving into their propaganda that the US is really the bad guy and we will go back home. Someone Tell Me What "Life without President Bush" will be like. Because its seems Im becoming more frieghtend by every scenario I am putting together. God Help US!

Same ol', same ol?

'Cept if its a Democrat, taxes will go up, and there won't be the uniformly negative press coverage that President Bush endures.

If its a 'Pubbie, it depends. If its Guiliani, it will look remarkably like a Democrat administration...

Is this a 'Get out the vote' message?

Yes I have thought about it. I don't know what to expect until we determine the nominees, then get election results.

It's far too early to worry about that. We don't even know who's going to run.
Worry about Now, and get your rep. candidate elected.

As long as we control the house and senate, it makes that other election down the road less worrysome.

As long as it's a Republican elected, the war against terrorism and radical Islam will continue. Future presidents will be looking forward to being the one who ended it and resolved the Mideast issues by instituting democracy in their countries.

If a Democrat is elected, look for the history of Iraq and Afghanistan to resemble that of Vietnam and Cambodia.

We'll cross that river when we get there.

Except that we never had any reason to worry about the Vietnamese or Cambodians bringing the war to America -- and that is a HUGE difference.

In the words of (some of) the people who saw UAL Flight 93, "It's too soon."

November 7 is election day. The day after that, the speculation about 2008 will begin in earnest.

It really is a matter for God to decide. If we get a true Conservative in the WH, he/she will have the same problems as Bush and Reagan befor him. Liberal media, Democratz whining and moaning, ready to attack the Prez at the drop of a hat, etc. If we get a Liberal, ala Klintoon, we'll get exactly what we got with Klintoon, ie, higher taxes, social welfare spending like water, cut military budgets, UN control of our troops in foreign lands. You shouldn't worry too much about what you cannot control.........

True, and another reason why Democrats cannot be trusted with national security or a pro-America foreign policy. They are too interested in pushing their agenda to support what American stands for.

Our government,by design is not disfunctional just because one branch might be. Also each state has their own Gaurd troops. So, in a situation such as you seem to be imagining (terrorist unchecked etc...)our country has immense local resources and is well armed. No nation in history even compares to the type of power we as individuals have.

We aren't even close to the primaries yet. Don't even know for sure who the contenders will be. Let's concentrate on that first, before we start obsessing about post '08.

No sense borrowing tomorrow's problems, 'specially when we've got more than enough to deal with today.

The left gets caught up in trying to compare the GWOT to Southeast Asia; however, it is very different. When the left was talking back in the 60's and 70's about how the communist governments of places like North Vietnam weren't a threat to the United States it was true.

The Cold War was a series of "proxy wars" between the United States and the Soviet Union, neither of us were EVER ATTACKED on our own soil, and so long as it remained that way, we were safe. Plus, we had the basic knowledge that as despotic as the Soviet leaders were, ultimately they had no interest in sacrificing millions of their own people just to harm America, they weren't suicidal and they didn't demand it of their people. The GWOT is nothing like this, the jihadists have made it clear that they will attack us anytime and anywhere there is an opportunity, even if this means that 100 million Muslims die in the process.

I agree to a point. I just see this going from one extreme of fighting this war so well and Homeland security starting to pay off and the Bush domestic policies that he has in the works are all going to be undone to the other extreme of the scale simply because we don't have a "real Contender" for the Whitehouse and some minor senator
will get in by the skin of his/her teeth just becase the other Canidate didnt have the pull or favor of the public.
These last 2 terms were Heavy-Weights for office. Now we have light welterwights coming to bat. I apologize for offending anyone if they think diffrently.

Hopefully, it won't be like life was like for 4 years under G.H.W. Bush after 8 years of Reagan.
