Same ol', same ol?
'Cept if its a Democrat, taxes will go up, and there won't be the uniformly negative press coverage that President Bush endures.
If its a 'Pubbie, it depends. If its Guiliani, it will look remarkably like a Democrat administration...

Yes I have thought about it. I don't know what to expect until we determine the nominees, then get election results.
To: ruready4eternity
It's far too early to worry about that. We don't even know who's going to run.
Worry about Now, and get your rep. candidate elected.
As long as we control the house and senate, it makes that other election down the road less worrysome.

As long as it's a Republican elected, the war against terrorism and radical Islam will continue. Future presidents will be looking forward to being the one who ended it and resolved the Mideast issues by instituting democracy in their countries.
If a Democrat is elected, look for the history of Iraq and Afghanistan to resemble that of Vietnam and Cambodia.

We'll cross that river when we get there.

In the words of (some of) the people who saw UAL Flight 93, "It's too soon."
November 7 is election day. The day after that, the speculation about 2008 will begin in earnest.

It really is a matter for God to decide. If we get a true Conservative in the WH, he/she will have the same problems as Bush and Reagan befor him. Liberal media, Democratz whining and moaning, ready to attack the Prez at the drop of a hat, etc. If we get a Liberal, ala Klintoon, we'll get exactly what we got with Klintoon, ie, higher taxes, social welfare spending like water, cut military budgets, UN control of our troops in foreign lands. You shouldn't worry too much about what you cannot control.........

Our government,by design is not disfunctional just because one branch might be. Also each state has their own Gaurd troops. So, in a situation such as you seem to be imagining (terrorist unchecked etc...)our country has immense local resources and is well armed. No nation in history even compares to the type of power we as individuals have.

We aren't even close to the primaries yet. Don't even know for sure who the contenders will be. Let's concentrate on that first, before we start obsessing about post '08.
No sense borrowing tomorrow's problems, 'specially when we've got more than enough to deal with today.

Hopefully, it won't be like life was like for 4 years under G.H.W. Bush after 8 years of Reagan.

My humble prediction:
If a Democrat wins, there will be a lot less arguing about the President here on FR.

Is it possible that the Dumbocrats will self destruct if they do not take control of the House nor the Senate?
Can saner heads, and here I presume the Senator Lieberman is not the only rational Dumbocrat, retake control of that Party?
To: ruready4eternity
I'm not looking forward to it, but when it does happen, I can only hope that he and Laura have a long and enjoyable retirement. The sad part is the man is too much of a gentleman to speak out on what messes he had to clean up after the Toon, nor will he bad-mouth any successor.
