This is probably just the beginning. The Virginia Senate Race has been ugly, driven by the DailyKos, MoveOn, DU folks, and their local counterpart RaisingKaine.

They called Allen a racist. They said his son was named after the founder of the KKK (imagine having to go to school after THAT gets circulated about you). They said his grandfather was a Nazi collaborator who was arrested by the allies. They said his mother was a racist that taught him to swear in foreign languages as a child.

They said he was anti-semitic, and was ashamed of his heritage. They said his supporters "booed a jew" at a debate.

Good people know that what you said 30 years ago doesn't define a man. Republicans are pretty good about that, and pretty fair about treating people fair. But good republicans won't sit around and protect Webb after seeing what Webb has done to Allen.

As someone who has admired and respected Webb for 25 years, it was painful for me to see him switch parties and run as a Democrat. Now I have just become plain disgusted by the gutter tactics his campaign is employing against Allen. Webb is a deep woods redneck and it would astound me to learn that he has not uttered the same racial slurs, taunts and jokes his minions are trying to pin on Allen.

You know, I'm tired of someone uttering one single word and wrecking their career when you can flip on about 5 radio stations in any city and hear that same word, probably multiple times in a single "song."

Cragg, 67, who lives in Fairfax County, said on Wednesday that Webb described taking drives through the black neighborhood of Watts...

Is Watts a community in Fairfax County, Va.?

Colmes was trying to smear Allen with this lie tonight on Hannity & Colmes, calling it a "pattern of behavior". I wish Hannity would grow a pair and slap that commie down.

They said his supporters "booed a jew" at a debate.

Do you mean DailyKos, MoveOn, DU folks, and their local counterpart RaisingKaine have said Allen's supporters booed a jew? That would be stunning considering they've done a lot more than simply boo Lieberman.

If I didn't know better, I'd think the Virginia Senate election was the only thing on the ballot this year. What's the deal with everyone's obsessing over this one particular seat?

Webb's comments to the Times-Dispatch prompted Allen campaign officials to direct a reporter to Dan Cragg, a former acquaintance of Webb's, who said Webb used the word while describing his own behavior during his freshman year at the University of Southern California in the early 1960s.

Oh, this is rich. Somebody needs to ask Born Idiot how it feels when the "racist" label's being applied to HIM.

This is going to get buried so fast by the Drive-by Media, you know. Democrats (except some Southern ones like Zell Miller) can't possibly be racists according to them. Only Republicans.

Fields of Fire

James Webb

Read an Excerpt

... And he says, ‘Snake, I think you done a good job for us but I gotta can you.’ And he fires me and gives me full pay for the week. Plus I got the n*****’s twenty bucks. Not bad, huh?”

She nodded approvingly: not bad. “What happened to the n*****?”

After Webb's comment yesterday, I knew it was only a matter of time until something like this surfaced. I had found it odd that Webb seemed to have little of his personal life in the public arena, but only his professional life.

I wonder who else will come forward. I would like to hear from some people who worked with him in the Pentagon.

Webb deserves this.

I don't know what's true, but it appears by his non denial he has used the word at least. In what context and his history? I really don't know and don't really care. But he deserves every scurrilous sory that dogs him now given what he tried to do to Allen.

I'm shocked that Pravda on the Potomac printed this (although I just went to the website to check and it was buried in the B section, naturally.)

The simple fact is that neither this nor anything else will stop the Post lefties from "enthusiastically endorsing Jim Webb" for the Senate. I expect we will see that on or about October 15th.

...has never used it as a racial epithet aimed at anyone.

This is an absolute admission that he has used it. Now all he has to explain is how he did use it.

Cragg said Webb told him the Watts story during a 1983 interview for a Vietnam veterans magazine.

I wonder if he kept the tape.

In 1963, you couldn't go to Watts and do that kind of thing. You'd get killed. So of course I didn't do it. I would never do that. I would never want to do that."

This explanation needs an explanation. Does he mean that he feared bodily harm so he didn't do what he is accused of? Or is he painting the entire Watts community in 1965 of being bloodthirsty.

I actually think this is all ridiculous but since the Webb people started it....sometimes the mud you throw comes back to hitting you in the face.

Not enough of an explanation - - he has to PROVE he never said/did any of those things....PROVE IT like you "proved" George Allen did!!

mud slinging fools think the voters are idiots....
