I'm shocked that Pravda on the Potomac printed this (although I just went to the website to check and it was buried in the B section, naturally.)

The simple fact is that neither this nor anything else will stop the Post lefties from "enthusiastically endorsing Jim Webb" for the Senate. I expect we will see that on or about October 15th.

Fortunately, this guy is probably the most eloquent spokesperson that could have come forward for Allen. He was on the WMAL Chris Core show this morning, and from what I hear he was perfect. Matter-of-fact, trustworthy, honest, just wanted to get the facts out, etc.

WMAL is a major station covering Northern virginia and can be heard through much of the eastern half of the state.

I just listend to the 1pm news, and they had the story on.

He said he loved Webb, has doesn't think Webb is a racist, but he stands by his story.

Here's the funniest thing. Webb was a republican for all this. If Webb was running to REPLACE Allen as the republican senator, you can be certain the democrats would be blasting him for this story. In fact, I expect to see a "well, he was a republican then, what do you expect, but he's different now" meme pick up soon.

Of course, that would end the "republican cross-over" vote, which I think he largely lost anyway with this personal assault on Allen.

I think the strategy was simply that Webb had a low appeal to blacks, and Allen has gotten a pretty high percentage of the black vote given he's a conservative republican.

Webb needed to fix that. So in the primary, he made certain the world knew his opponent was Jewish (I think playing on the Jewish/Black antipathy).

And now, he's trying at least to suppress the black support for Allen with the racism charge.

His plan seems to be to get the democrat base (other than blacks), and win enough independents who are always enthralled by people who can't make up their mind between republican and democrat.

It is unlikely they expected to get this many people, or even ANY people, who would make up or come forward with stories -- because maybe they don't understand how DailyKos/MoveOn work.

The left thinks this is a battle to save America from destruction. In such a battle, why wouldn't some people make up a little lie about saying the "n-word", after all it's not charging Allen with a crime or anything.
