House Passes Public Expression Of Religion Act (Bill To Stop ACLU Tax Funding): 244 to 173

Well, we are half way there! Now the legislation needs to pass the Senate. This will be more difficult to do, so we continue to need all of the support we can get. The roll call is in from the House and its not good news for the ACLU! The bill, H.R. 2679, would deny legal fees and out-of-pocket expenses to be taken from taxpayers and given put into the pockets of groups like the ACLU when they successfully sue against references to God and religion in public settings, has passed by a vote of 244-173! This is good news, but it isn't the end of the battle. The legislation still needs to pass the Senate and for that to happen we will need all the support we can get. Keep contacting your Senators and let them know you support it!

Americans United for Seperation of Church and State are quite upset!

The Rev. Barry W. Lynn, executive director of Americans United, said the House leadership is obsessed with playing to powerful Religious Right lobbying groups that have been pressing for the legislation.

Send Christmas cards. This is coming early (really early) so that you can get ready to include an important address to your list.

Read on........ What a GREAT idea!

Fun with the ACLU......

Wanna have some fun this CHRISTMAS?
Send the ACLU a CHRISTMAS CARD this year.

As they are working so very hard to get rid of the CHRISTMAS part of this holiday, we should all send them a nice, CHRISTIAN, card to brighten up their dark, sad, little world.

Make sure it says "Merry Christmas" on it. Here's the Address,
just don't be rude or crude.

ACLU
125 Broad Street
18th Floor
New York, NY 10004

Two tons of Christmas cards would freeze their operations because they wouldn't know if any were regular mail containing contributions. So spend 39 cents and tell the ACLU to leave Christmas alone. Also tell them that there is no such thing as a "Holiday Tree". . It's a Christmas Tree, even in the fields!!

I stuck one on the local branch's front door with a push pin this past year. It was the same one I sent to all my friends. I wonder what their reaction to it was.

I'm not sure that this is a good thing. I don't like legislation written specifically against a lawful organization, no matter how much we don't like that organization.

What's to stop a Dim Congress from writing laws explicitly punishing conservative groups?

True, but how many conservative groups advocate rights to distribute child porn and let convicted child molesters have free reign without restrictions? They want to fight for the rights of John Evander Couey but not Jessica Lunsford. Jessica was an adorable, God-loving little girl and Couey is an oxygen thief, plain and simple, that buried that precious little girl alive.

These people are evil, plain and simple. I would not only like to see funding cut off, I would like to see this group totally disbanded.

As soon as they break the law, then I would agree. But writing legislation specifically aimed at odious groups gives the Libs the ability to write legislation aimed at groups they find odious. And you know what those will be.

If the ACLU is violating the law, shut them down on that basis. But politically-minded legislation is a bad idea in principle because it gives the state too much power. Using the weight of our majority against opposing groups is not a conservative tactic, because it only feeds the Fed monster.

Being a commie is not against the law.

It's silly, and stupid, and doesn't show much of a thought process, but it is not itself against the law.

Again, we must remember that the weapons we use will also be used by the Dims. We won't control Congress forever.

Wait a minute! The ACLU would remain free to continue their dastardly deeds; only you and I will no longer pay for it! What is wrong with that?

The ACLU would still be able to sue, they just would have to find another way to PAY for it.

you are right there is nothing in the constitution banning stupidity. But! there should be.The libs dont have a chance of taking control anymore like they used to.When we finally get rid of the 60s socialist, by old age,and get two more conservatives on the supreme court the libs will be done.

Good News. Maybe we have a glimmer of hope that this is the beginning of the end for the ACLU.

Read the act please!!

It prohibits taxpayer funding of the aclu's activities. The act does not proscribe the organization, it just shoves them away from the taxpayers' trough.

Why should any advocacy group, liberal, conservative, or commie (aclu) be funded by taxpayers because of rigged judicial shakedowns (winked at by stupid / complicit judges)?
