Anybody know who some of the original members are? Who's been a member the longest?

Don't forget the usenet days...quite a few of us were active then, even if under different handles.
To: HAL9000
Thank you for this site. Here's to many more years.
To: Howlin
Boy Howlin can I appreciate that? Sometimes I feel like I am going to bust an artery listening to these Democrats and leftist idiots. FreeRepublic was a godsend.
To: HAL9000; Jim Robinson
I still read a lot, but rarely post since I got suspended by a pin-headed AM for annoying worshipers of Mark Levin, and arguing with the pin-head privately about it.
Cheers, Jim.

Recognize the picture, this was the FReeper March for Justice rally in Washington DC October 31, 1998. I'm not in this picture, however, further back in this group I had the honor of being the Marine Corps flag bearer.
Started lurking at FR in the summer of '98 and signed on a few days after the March for Justice. Congratulations Jim on the great job you've done the past 10 years.

Congratulations to Jim as well; I lurked here for more than a year before I finally signed up in 1998; I've been here for hours; daily from almost the beginning. Free Republic is the BEST site on the Internet; Thank you Jim and John Robinson!
I did the same thing, I lurked for over a year before registering. FR is my home page and has been since I found FR, through Drudge. When FR goes down, you feel positively lost..........
Thank you so much for the creation of the site, and it's continuation over the years..

Thanks for this post HAL...and Jim, thanks for the site!
It's hard to believe that the years have flowed, and flown by like they have. But they have and will continue to do so. During it all, despoite whatever hardships and differences, FR has made an importan mark and it has made a great difference for the better in our Republic. A real paradigm shift that those who are both internally and externally opposed to our Republic and what it was founded upon cannot understand or grasp.
Again, congratualtions, and God bless!
..lot's of old timers posting on this thread I see.

Some things never change, eh?
To: Howlin
Aren't we all, Mr. 179??I can't remember when exactly I started following the Whitewater page... I had internet access in 1991, and my own account in 1992. I recall it was shortly before the election that I started looking into Clinton rather vigorously.
Quite a bit later, I remember clearly when Jim started requiring email addresses so that you could post. I waited about a week to sign up, because I was convinced that the Clintonoids would shut this place down, get our identities and have all of us up before the IRS. It didn't happen, of course (yet?), but in the paranoid days right before Monica broke it seemed like he was invincible.
Thus I might have had an even lower number had I not dissembled. That said, the number just shows when you got on board, not what you contribute.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart Jim, for creating and supporting this community. I have learned so much since becoming a member 5 years ago, and I have met so many wonderful FRiends. This community has helped me through some very hard times as well, and for that I will be forever grateful.
May God bless you Jim, and all who work on this site daily -- as well as all of my cherished FRiends.
With much love to all of you,
LibertyRocks
