Mexico - where bounty hunting is illegal - claims Chapman jumped bail after being charged with illegally detaining Luster in June 2003.
A new special about last week's arrest will air tonight (10 p.m.) on A&E.
Chapman, who is out on $300,000 bail, said on yesterday's "Today" show that if he goes to prison in Mexico, he will be killed by inmates avenging the thousands of fleeing felons he's brought to justice.
"I won't last two days," he said.

Well, I'm sure that Lusker's victims are relieved that Chapman has more balls than that. I personally don't feel that breaking laws to apprehend a serial rapist qualifies as "serious crimes" in my book.
You are equating the Mexican justice system with ours. That tells me a lot about where you are coming from. Also, there are thousands of devout Christians serving time in pennetentiaries across this country. You don't earn salvation. You might want to brush up on your Bible reading.
Chapman did as long as he wasn't the one looking at serious time in a Mexican prison.
That tells me a lot about where you are coming from.
Bottom line: if you commit a crime in a foreignb jurisdiction, then you get to deal with their justice system, like it or not.
Also, there are thousands of devout Christians serving time in pennetentiaries across this country.
Devout Christians commit murder, rape, and robbery?
If he had the balls the break the law he should have the balls to accept the consquences. When my youngest son received a speeding ticket (in a residental area) rushing to his brother's bedside in the hospital (serious but not life threatening), I WOULD NOT allow him to offer that as an excuse to the judge. My son accepted the consequences of his actions.
"I personally don't feel that breaking laws to apprehend a serial rapist qualifies as "serious crimes" in my book."
So you would have no problem if the police took short cuts and broke the law to apprehend law breakers?
As long as it didn't hit HIM personally, I'm sure he'd think it was just grand.
There are plenty of murderers and rapists who have found Christ and have been redeemed. You seem to think that earthly deeds are what do so. Redemption is a free gift. Anyone, even murderers can accept it.
If they were in a corrupt hole like Mexico, no I wouldn't. You seem to be equating our justice system with theirs and we obviously won't see eye to eye on that, but I'm curious as to why you are still doubting his Christian faith, which is what started this whole exchange between you and I.
Duane's going around committing felonies after being redeemed.
And it seems to me that, having been redeemed, he would extend the same sort of mercy to others on the lam from Mexican justice that he himself asks. No, he was perfectly OK with sending bail skips back to Mexico right up to the moment he skipped. The parable of the indebted servants comes to mind.
You seem to think that earthly deeds are what do so.
Not being a Christian, I merely expect Christians to walk the walk as well as talk the talk, or else it's just more hot air in a world oversupplied with same.
I didn't realize you have not yet found Jesus. I'd encourage you to seek him out. We have honest disagreements on the philisophical aspects of this case, but when it comes to the theological, you are very misinformed about Christianity.
You first said, "I personally don't feel that breaking laws to apprehend a serial rapist qualifies as serious crimes in my book."
Now you're saying that, "I personally don't feel that breaking laws to apprehend a serial rapist qualifies as serious crimes in my book, IF they were in a corrupt hole like Mexico."
I could point out that there are plenty of corrupt hole's in the states and then what, we keep appending additional qualifiers onto the excuses?
Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's unless it's Mexico?
I found his followers, and that was (and is, and most likely will be) quite sufficient to convince me to the contrary.
Append "or any other third world dump" to that and I'll agree.
Dog has money. Im sure his lawyers will work something out.
Maybe this dog uses one of those new-age Bible translations.
I'm truly sorry you feel that way. All I can say is to try to form your impressions of Christians by visiting an actual church rather than judging us by what some people post on Internet forums. Anonymity brings out the ugliest in people.
Agreed.
It has nothing to do with Jesus, but it is morally OK to break the law when it is unjust. Rosa Parks comes to mind.
I guess that would explain how this dog fellow can square breaking laws with his faith
Again, faith has nothing to do with human deeds. You are redeemed by faith alone. As I pointed out to BAPS earlier, there are murderers and rapists in prison who have been saved. Redemption is a GIFT, not a reward or prize.
It's about time we agree on something.
Dog = Rosa Parks?! Jeez.
Then your dog guy should accept his "gift" since he asked for it.
