Today, according to a Scripps Howard poll, more than a third of Americans suspect the attacks were an inside job (with federal officials either helping the hijackers or at least knowing about them in advance).

That may be the scariest news of all. Next time you go to a ball game or a movie, or sit down at a bar, look to your left and then look to your right. One of those two people, on average, believes that 9/11 was an inside job. That's assuming, of course, that you yourself don't believe it.

This is the same one-third of the population that is hopelessly liberal, reflexively anti-war, and spectacularly anti-Bush. They are living in some post-Socialist La-La Land where good intentions and the right "feelings" are all that is needed for world peace and global prosperity. It's one out of three, so those sounds of Kumbaya should be audible outside all of our windows.

I'd like to know what civil liberties we have lost since 9-11-01. The left keeps stating we have, but I cannot seem to find any missing.

The "anti-war" left keeps right on protesting. Code Pink and others boast of sending money and other support to the terrorists. Micheal Moore makes propaganda films full of lies which our enemies love (who needs Tokyo Rose, Bin Laden's got Moore). The terrorists freely use the Internet to post jihad videos on youtube. Despots are still allowed into America to speak at the UN. Leftist filmmakers are allowed to make movies dipicting President Bush being assasinated. The left still gets to bully media outlets that do not toe the leftist line (like ABC) and threaten punishment, but nothing happens to the leftists.

Ultimately, the tape of this now-extinct terrorist camp reminds us not to impute our own notions about motives to these jihadists. Instead, why not just watch and listen to what they themselves really do and say?

If there's one thing that astonishes me the most about this entire topic it is the effort some people put forth to find some alternate explanation for the bald fact that a fellow who has said he wants to kill you then goes ahead and attempts it. That fellow may be called a lot of things - lunatic, bully, murderer - but not "liar." The one denying the whole thing or imputing some dark motive to a third party may be called a lot of things too, "fool" being pre-eminent.

In the past, bin Laden has even denied his involvement in planning 9/11. Here, though, he clearly takes credit for it. The Arab Street should be reminded that its icon is not only a killer and a thug but a pathological liar as well.
