Ky. Plane Crash Survivor Asks 'Why?'
By JEFFREY McMURRAY The Associated Press Wednesday, September 6, 2006; 10:47 PM
LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The sole survivor of a plane crash that killed 49 people near the Lexington airport last week told family members from his hospital bed, "Why did God do this to me?" but he hasn't mentioned the crash, a close family friend said Wednesday.
James Polehinke, who was the flight's co-pilot, can move only his head, and tears often well up in his eyes, said Antonio Cruz, Polehinke's mother's boyfriend. He said the 44-year-old has been in and out of consciousness.

I also will offer prayers on behalf of the co-pilot, his family, and the families of the other survivors. May they all experience, eventually, the peace that comes only from God.

Well, I can't speak for two you mention. I suspect they were on crevo threads, which I avoid because of the sheer amount of cr*p.
If I wanted to quote mine (I won't waste my time), obb's behavior could be put in context. And I know you're aware of that behavior. That past behavior wasn't from frustration, but viciousness.
And, there are culprits on the 'other side', whose conduct is surpising considering their claims of being believers. Some of them have been sent to the cooler as well.
In any case, the thread was asking for prayers for the survivor of the crash. Innocuous. Can be ignored if a prayer request offends one's sensibilities. But at least one individual just couldn't help himself (and couldn't help himself similarly in the past).
It's one thing to get caught up in the heat of the moment, but certain folks establish a pattern over time that is hard to ignore (same goes for CarolinaGuitarman).
This is first and foremost a political forum. I'd like to see it stay that way.

This only the beginning for Mr. Polehinke. He is going to relive this over and over as investigation is going on, not to mention wrestling with guilt (real or not) for this tragedy. Too bad - that's what happens when you screw up and kill 49 people.

I don't know about you, but when I board a commercial airliner I'd prefer not to have a pilot who is ready to blame God if any mishaps occur. Isn't conservatism supposed to be about people taking personal responsiblility for their own actions?
Prayers for the passengers and their families (who *are* justified in wondering how God allowed this to happen to them, unlike the pilots and ATC staff, who should more properly be pondering their own contribution to this accident) seem appropriate however.

Too bad - that's what happens when you screw up and kill 49 people. Please provide evidence to back up your assertion that someone *screwed up and killed 49 people*? Who are you blaming and based on what evidence?

Please provide evidence to back up your assertion that someone *screwed up and killed 49 people*? Who are you blaming and based on what evidence? You haven't even read the news? You don't have the facts? And you don't care what they are? But somehow my comment is the one in bad taste?
Is that how you intended to go through your life?

So now that you've joined thisr thread that was posted as a prayer request, you're going to join everyone in praying for the situation, right?

The guy tried to take off from a too-short runway. That's why the plane crashed. RTFA Actually, the survivor was the co-pilot. More likely he had his head down reading the checklists and monitoring the guages.
