So I guess somebody leaked that there will not be the "inventory drop" that was expected by this morning's "analysts" when the figures are published tomorrow...

My uncle's 62 Bel Air would "fill it up and run it over," for $5. S. Iowa gas was $.15/gallon but you could get Missouri gas about 11 miles away for $.12, plus they sold 3.2 beer on Sunday. What a deal !

"I remember me and my buddies pooling our change and getting enough gas to drive around all weekend. "
One of my buddies worked at a gas station and would drain into a gas can the fuel left over in the pump hose between customers. I don't think he ever bought gas.
Another friend's Dad worked for the natural gas company, Colorado Interstate. He kept drums of 'drip gas' in his back yard from which we stole at night. Drip gas, as I recall, is formed on natural gas lines as condensate, then drained off. It worked pretty good in the car.

The WORLD economy was in quite poor shape throughout the '90s, especially that of Japan and rest of Asia, though Europe was on tenterhooks, too. About the only economic engine that was in good shape was the US. Now that the rest of the world's economy is picking up, demand for oil is up world-wide... thus the prices are up world-wide.
Though the US economy is the most important in the world, it is not the ONLY economy in the world, and the price of oil has to do with the WORLD's demand of oil, not solely the demand of the US.

Wait just a second. I thought we were in for a real estate bubble, not an oil bubble.

I remember when gasoline was in the teens. And they gave you a knife or a dish, AND they washed the windscreen too.
Long time ago!
