demos mostly refers to the listeners sex, age, income levls, etc. It comes down to how much advertising money his show brings in.

Than you were not listening after Bush was elected he was not keen on Bush and is a Rockefeller Republican.
Nor were you around for the 2004 election when he was give aid and comfort to Kerry and his war record and also was given air time to Wilson and his wife and really giving Bush Admin a hard time and believing Wilson and his wife over Libby, Rove, Chaney!

I'm guessing having Loftus on and continually deferring to him, hurt the numbers one way or another. Despite every once in a while hitting the mark, Loftus was a rabid Bush hater whose analysis was too often distorted by his rabid Bush hatred, such as in his persistent claim Kerry would have been at least as tough as Bush) it was unique in its breadth, depth, and cool bumper music.
Of course, slugs from the nation couldn't have helped. Still, that's nitpicking. It was a great, adult show.

It was sickening during the Kerry race "Yikes!" Glad I missed that or I never would have listened recently. And not knowing that made his "cut and run" comments all the more shocking.
He was at his best during the recent Israeli war, though intelligence from Loftus was sometimes overhyped. And his classic sign-off with "Midnight, the Stars and You" followed by Kate Smith and "God Bless America" will be missed.

Don't forget that slug of a democrat lawyer, Eddie Hayes. What did he bring to the show?
I'd have rather heard Paul Alexander than Hayes.

WABC and Phil Boyce did not kill the Batchelor show. The ABC News and Talk Network did.
Boyce can not air a program that is no longer being produced.
Just because the show originated from WABC studios in New York did not make it a local WABC show.
Malzberg is another story. He was a WABC local host.
It's like blaming your local ABC channel for killing your favorite sitcom, when it is the ABC parent network that killed it.

It comes down to how much advertising money his show brings in.Right. The business of the broadcaster is to sell listeners to advertisers, listeners that are likely to buy their products etc. But if the sales staff can't match the advertisers with the demographics of the listeners, for example trying to sell teeny-bopper clothes to older listeners, then the deal fails. Batchelor had a sizeable listership probably with high disposable income. ABC failed to profit on his good audience.

I think Sean's very popular with the ladies: he's the kind of guy they want their daughters to marry, or if younger, marry themselves. As for me, SH is like an over-breaded country fried steak - too much coating and not enough meat (and I don't think that's on the menu at Ruth's Chris!). He has some great 'gets': VP Cheney, Secretary Rice, etc. But he also gives a lot of time to loonies like Rangel and Huffington and Sharpton and Beckel.... And that Man-in-the-Street gig: hey Sean, I get it that a lot of my fellow citizens are totally politically unaware. Hey a lot of them don't even know what day it is!
So why do I listen? I'm just killing time till Levin comes on!

Steve was not fired Steve by his own choice left for that wacky station at the end of the dial!
Steve wanted a better time slot to be able to spend with his son.
Steve was #1 over night...

Never heard of him before this week. And you heard about him on FR and I'm guessing on the Middle East thread? Pretty amazing for a slightly left of center (on domestic issues) talk show host to have his own thread regularly on FR. On the other hand, I have no doubt that we (FR especially) spread the word about good talk shows and help expand those hosts that are excellent but less well known.
