Today In New Orleans, President Bush Discussed The Lessons Our Nation Has Learned Since Katrina, The Work That Has Been Done, And The Many Challenges That Still Lie Ahead. One year ago today, Southeast Louisiana was struck by a cruel hurricane and flooding on a massive scale.
The President has returned to New Orleans to reiterate his commitment and to report what the Federal government is doing to make good on its promises.
However, the one-year anniversary is not the finish line, and many challenges still remain.

Enjoy your Tuesday visit to Sanity Island
MIKE is leaving again?
Both Mike and Jon will be deployed from 15 to 18 mos...12 months in the ME...
Wow...and you remembered my ORANGE "signature color" too!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!
"Branson many, many times."
Good but have you been to Buffalo?! :)
Yes!...Jon flies in Fri night...I'll see him Sat til Tues when we take him back to the airport...
That's what I think too. The way they see the president is just a reflection of themselves.
Landrieu on Fox this morning ... You should have heard the "back-paddling."
Ugh! Do you remember an interview she had with Chris Wallace last year immediately after Katrina? She was doing the usual "it's Bush's fault" routine. But Chris Wallace wouldn't let her get away with it. He pointed out to her that she, Nagin and Blanco had the responsibility to take care of NOLA, not the the president. It was so refreshing!
Well said!
Oops! make that Cottenelle t p is the dog. Charmin is a cartoon bear (that replaced Mr. Whipple.)
That's a touching picture. Could you imagine writing a loved one's name on the wall? :(
***Good but have you been to Buffalo?! :)***
I have. But why do you ask?
Yes, I suppose I meant to say that in my comment. He displays respect for everything and everyone.
Some fault him for being so non-confrontational, eg: not hammering the lying SOB DemonRats...but HIS CHOICE has been to stay ABOVE the fray and embrace his enemies.
By doing so, President Bush exemplifies class and those who have only an agenda of HATRED are shown to be the small little people they really are.
God Bless our honorable and dignified President.
Yep, there's an 'ol saying, "You see in others what you MOST need to see in yourself."
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!:)
EEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!! How RUDE! ;*)
"I have. But why do you ask? "
Three guesses and the first two don't count. Study my screenname. :)
Oh,, you mean THAT Buffalo...the one in SW Missouri? Nope!
Help, it's Mayor Wonka!!!
"THAT Buffalo"
LOL!! Really you haven't missed too much not having been to "my" Buffalo but that's ok, there's not that much here!!
Gretchen gave me a helpful tip. Instead of searching for "President Bush" she suggested I try "+ 'President Bush'- moore". It eliminates almost all of the garbage out there (and there's a lot of it :-/)
