Barbra Streisand will perform Oct. 6 in Value City Arena and reportedly for the first time in Ohio.
"Weve worked for literally two years to bring her to Columbus," said Xen Riggs, Ohio State University vice president of student affairs.
"It came down to Columbus and Cleveland. Now, hopefully, people will see it as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
The operatic pop quartet Il Divo will also perform.
The appearance by the 64-year-old singer at the OSU venue will set another precedent the first time that an act has charged more than $600 for a concert ticket in central Ohio.
Tickets, $152.50 to $602.50, will go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday at the Schottenstein Center box office (614-292-2624 or 1-800-462-8257) and Ticketmaster outlets (614-431-3600).
Yes, those prices are correct.
The 1,700 "gold-circle" tickets those for seats closest to the stage will cost the most.
By contrast, gold-circle tickets for her concerts in many other cities on her tour, starting Oct. 4 in Philadelphia, are priced at $750.
"Were obviously very excited," Riggs said, "but it is a risk for the community. Its a chance for the community to show that we can support something like this."

I thought liberals were for doing things for the little people.
I had no idea there was such a thing as a "Value City Arena." I thought for a moment from the headline that Barbra was singing at a Value City department store.
It would be more appropriate if she performed at Dollar General.
Spooky! "Vera, vera spooky!"
That was my first thought too. lol
I'm sure it's entirely coincidental that she's appearing in a "battleground state" only weeks before the mid-term elections.
Is this like the time Tiffany did her mall tour?
Who's opening for her...the Dixie Chicks?
Hopefully she'll share some of her bonecrushingly dumb political observations.
It will only help the GOP.
Well, thank God she won't be appearing anytime at Spatula City Arena.
uh, didn't she promise America that she was retiring?
Even for a penny I would not go hear that liberal scum
My question......WGAF?
Bore-ing...
"The 1,700 "gold-circle" tickets "
At 600 each, that is 1 million right there. Where is her compassion for the poor people.
And it's at "Value" City Arena. Like Shatner said in Airplane II, "Irony can really be ironic sometimes."
Didn't Streisand charge her fans a fortune to attend her "farewell" concerts years ago? Why is she still performing? Aren't the people who paid for her final concerts entitled to a refund because of her false advertising? Or has the word "final" taken on some new meaning I haven't heard about?
