ADL Blasts Christian Supremacist TV Special & Book Blaming Darwin For Hitler
New York, NY, August 22, 2006 The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today blasted a television documentary produced by Christian broadcaster Dr. D. James Kennedy's Coral Ridge Ministries that attempts to link Charles Darwin's theory of evolution to Adolf Hitler and the atrocities of the Holocaust. ADL also denounced Coral Ridge Ministries for misleading Dr. Francis Collins, the director of the National Human Genome Research Institute for the NIH, and wrongfully using him as part of its twisted documentary, "Darwin's Deadly Legacy."
After being contacted by the ADL about his name being used to promote Kennedy's project, Dr. Collins said he is "absolutely appalled by what Coral Ridge Ministries is doing. I had NO knowledge that Coral Ridge Ministries was planning a TV special on Darwin and Hitler, and I find the thesis of Dr. Kennedy's program utterly misguided and inflammatory," he told ADL.
ADL National Director Abraham H. Foxman said in a statement:"This is an outrageous and shoddy attempt by D. James Kennedy to trivialize the horrors of the Holocaust. Hitler did not need Darwin to devise his heinous plan to exterminate the Jewish people. Trivializing the Holocaust comes from either ignorance at best or, at worst, a mendacious attempt to score political points in the culture war on the backs of six million Jewish victims and others who died at the hands of the Nazis.
"It must be remembered that D. James Kennedy is a leader among the distinct group of 'Christian Supremacists' who seek to "reclaim America for Christ" and turn the U.S. into a Christian nation guided by their strange notions of biblical law."
The documentary is scheduled to air this weekend along with the publication of an accompanying book "Evolution's Fatal Fruit: How Darwin's Tree of Life Brought Death to Millions."
A Coral Ridge Ministries press release promoting the documentary says the program "features 14 scholars, scientists, and authors who outline the grim consequences of Darwin's theory of evolution and show how his theory fueled Hitler's ovens."
> is it yours, some other writers
The answer is obvious if you care to view the link. Beyodn that... well, do yer own homework.
I know. I'm an archaeologist. But we are not talking about "prior to the arrival of the Spaniards." We are talking about during the mission era (1769-1834) in California. Stay on subject.
You might try this site: http://taylorandfrancis.metapress.com/(cmmjepbkkeo5o3n1wg3ewu45)/app/home/contribution.asp?referrer=parent&backto=issue,6,10;journal,13,24;linkingpublicationresults,1:104736,1 to see if you can get some up to date information.
That article deals primarily with TB. Does not apply.
To repeat: California, mission era, death rate about 90%. "Enlightenment" indeed!
I've read quite a bit of Darwin's writings, including letters and notebooks, not just books published in his lifetime. I don't recall ever coming across the word "Jew".
Let's check the online database at The Darwin Correspondence Project. This is a very good index to all of Darwin's letters (both from and to).
Turns out there is an index term "human group: Jews". You can find the hits on this page:
http://darwin.lib.cam.ac.uk/perl/nav?class=human_group;term=Jews;dmode=dr
None of these letters happen (yet) to be available in full text. The database gives a summary of each letter.
The hits amount to two letters (one from and one to Darwin) which touch upon the heredity effect, or lack thereof, of circumcision. (Remember that the inheritence of aquired characteristics was still an issue at the time, and Darwin allowed for the "effects of use and disuse" as a subsidiary mechanism to natural selection.)
Finally there's a letter from Darwin to one Baruch Jakob Placzek (18351922) expressing an interest in reading his book. Comment in the database concerning the letter:
A learned Jew in Poland [Napthali Lewy?] has published a volume showing that evolution is an ancient belief.
Don't have time to google and figure out exactly what that means just now.
There's absolutely no reason why California would suffer a high death rate from a unique cause not found elsewhere in the Americas.
There's absolutely no reason why California would suffer a high death rate from a unique cause not found elsewhere in the Americas.
I am not familiar with Mandan and Mohicans, but I know California and related areas. (You keep dragging in other subjects and areas for some reason.)
And who cares if the cause is unique. My statement was: California mission areas, 90% death rate during the mission era. "Enlightenment" indeed!
To this I will now add: the busybodies could well have stayed at home. The "enlightenment" looked a lot like genocide to the California mission Indians.
Darwin was not an anti-Semite.
Was Hitler a Christian?
By John Baskette - but the information came from Marty Helgesen in a soc.religion.christian post.
The claim is sometimes made that Hitler was a Christian - a Roman Catholic until the day he died. In fact, Hitler rejected Christianity.
The book Hitler's Secret Conversations 1941-1944 published by Farrar, Straus and Young, Inc.first edition, 1953, contains definitive proof of Hitler's real views. The book was published in Britain under the title, _Hitler's Table Talk 1941-1944, which title was used for the Oxford University Press paperback edition in the United States.
All of these are quotes from Adolf Hitler:
Night of 11th-12th July, 1941:
National Socialism and religion cannot exist together.... The heaviest blow that ever struck humanity was the coming of Christianity. Bolshevism is Christianity's illegitimate child. Both are inventions of the Jew. The deliberate lie in the matter of religion was introduced into the world by Christianity.... Let it not be said that Christianity brought man the life of the soul, for that evolution was in the natural order of things. (p 6 & 7)10th October, 1941, midday:
Christianity is a rebellion against natural law, a protest against nature. Taken to its logical extreme, Christianity would mean the systematic cultivation of the human failure. (p 43)14th October, 1941, midday:
The best thing is to let Christianity die a natural death.... When understanding of the universe has become widespread... Christian doctrine will be convicted of absurdity.... Christianity has reached the peak of absurdity.... And that's why someday its structure will collapse.... ...the only way to get rid of Christianity is to allow it to die little by little.... Christianity the liar.... We'll see to it that the Churches cannot spread abroad teachings in conflict with the interests of the State. (p 49-52)19th October, 1941, night:
The reason why the ancient world was so pure, light and serene was that it knew nothing of the two great scourges: the pox and Christianity.21st October, 1941, midday:
Originally, Christianity was merely an incarnation of Bolshevism, the destroyer.... The decisive falsification of Jesus' doctrine was the work of St.Paul. He gave himself to this work... for the purposes of personal exploitation.... Didn't the world see, carried on right into the Middle Ages, the same old system of martyrs, tortures, faggots? Of old, it was in the name of Christianity. Today, it's in the name of Bolshevism. Yesterday the instigator was Saul: the instigator today, Mardochai. Saul was changed into St.Paul, and Mardochai into Karl Marx. By exterminating this pest, we shall do humanity a service of which our soldiers can have no idea. (p 63-65)13th December, 1941, midnight:
Christianity is an invention of sick brains: one could imagine nothing more senseless, nor any more indecent way of turning the idea of the Godhead into a mockery.... .... When all is said, we have no reason to wish that the Italians and Spaniards should free themselves from the drug of Christianity. Let's be the only people who are immunised against the disease. (p 118 & 119)
14th December, 1941, midday:
Kerrl, with noblest of intentions, wanted to attempt a synthesis between National Socialism and Christianity. I don't believe the thing's possible, and I see the obstacle in Christianity itself.... Pure Christianity-- the Christianity of the catacombs-- is concerned with translating Christian doctrine into facts. It leads quite simply to the annihilation of mankind. It is merely whole-hearted Bolshevism, under a tinsel of metaphysics. (p 119 & 120)9th April, 1942, dinner:
There is something very unhealthy about Christianity (p 339)27th February, 1942, midday:
It would always be disagreeable for me to go down to posterity as a man who made concessions in this field. I realize that man, in his imperfection, can commit innumerable errors-- but to devote myself deliberately to errors, that is something I cannot do. I shall never come personally to terms with the Christian lie. Our epoch Uin the next 200 yearse will certainly see the end of the disease of Christianity.... My regret will have been that I couldn't... behold ." (p 278)
And along similar lines, since communists believed that the proletarian revolution was inevitable, they had no reason to force the issue. After all, had they truly believed Marx's theory, they would've just sat back and let history unfold. So the communists didn't really believe in Marx.
Have I got your reasoning about right?
But of course that wasn't the case, because that's not how totalitarians do things. They tend to get in a hurry (as the other poster suggested). In fact, their willingness to force things into place is probably a direct result of believing that the inevitable laws of nature or history are on their side.
So, if anything, the fact that the Nazis didn't just "let nature take its course" actually suggests the opposite of what you're contending. I.e., just as the communists's willingness to help the revolution along showed their faith in Marx, so the Nazis' willingness to help the process of natural selection along showed their faith in evolution.
That's like saying Madalyn Murray O'Hare was "influenced" by Christianity.
She hated it and so did Hitler. Why would Hitler try to replace deep-seated Christian holidays with non-Christian ones i.e. Christmas with the Winter Solstice?
Sort of like what many secularist in this country want.
The caption says "Winter Solstice 1943."
I don't think he would call himself that. So my point stands.
Then why are you defending a Christian hater like Foxman?
I'm not defending Foxman. I agree with him on this issue though. And it is your opinion that he hates Christians.
But more than anything, you are in love with yourself.
???? Wow, you have some nerve to pronounce the state of my being. Where do you get that from? Why can't you refrain from attacking people who don't attack you?
all tyrants hate religion, christianity included.
they do this because, people believe in an authority that is NOT THE TYRANT.
A tyrant needs allegiance to the tyrant and that rules out religion, secular humanism, code of the knights of the round table, allegiance to a constitution, allegiance to family, or to another person.
That is why when a tyranical govt. seizes power, the first thing they do is to wipe out religion as is evidenced by China's current crackdown on their disidents in Tibet (not christian by the way).
When the christian nutcases claim darwin was responsible for Hitler and the holocost, I'm going to dump on the evangelical equivalent of the towelheads because that is what they are.
Except, of course, that there is no proper documentation of any of this.
Your logic doesn't track and I don't think you got the point of the post.
An, yet again, it wasn't evolution the Nazis had in mind, it was selective breeding.
The soviets did not believe in marx, the chinese actually did for a while. No way did stalin believe in marx.
Yes, actually it does.
See ya,
That was my (not professional) understanding as well, thanks for the confirmation.
It would seem, from this thread, that there are other areas of history on which a different variety of 'holocaust deniers' descend in a feeding frenzy.
A sad reflection of some mentalities, that flee reality at every opportunity.
