You had a 90% death rate among the Mandan Indians just after the visit by the Lewis & Clark company. There was a 95% death rate among the Mohicans in a single winter in New England/New York back in the mid 1600s.

There's absolutely no reason why California would suffer a high death rate from a unique cause not found elsewhere in the Americas.

I am not familiar with Mandan and Mohicans, but I know California and related areas. (You keep dragging in other subjects and areas for some reason.)

And who cares if the cause is unique. My statement was: California mission areas, 90% death rate during the mission era. "Enlightenment" indeed!

To this I will now add: the busybodies could well have stayed at home. The "enlightenment" looked a lot like genocide to the California mission Indians.
