"His plan includes deporting illegal aliens with criminal backgrounds, a 10-year limit on legal immigration set between 150,000 and 200,000 persons per year, and a $10 billion, 2,000-mile security fence along the border of the United States and Mexico."

Buchanan BUMP.

as much as I disagree with Buchanan on many issues,
he is spot on regarding illegals.
We are going to have to "clean house" of illegals including the incarcerated...after we secure BOTH borders.
We may have to wait until we elect a POTUS who will enforce the immigration laws of this country but it will have to be done!

50 years?

He's not even close. More like 10 years at the rate it's going now, if anyone even knew the rate it's going right now.

Boortz discussing Buchanan's book this AM:

A MUST-READ IF, THAT IS, YOU DON'T MIND GETTING UPSET

Pat Buchanan's new book, "State of Emergency: The Third World Invasion and Conquest of America" hits the book stores this week. I starter reading it over the weekend .. and the news is not comforting. Buchanan goes to great detail to catalogue the Hispanic invasion of America and the re-conquest of the American Southwest.

How about a few gems from Buchanan's book?

By 2050 there will be more than 100 million Hispanics concentrated in the Southwest that most Mexicans believe was stolen by the united States and still belongs to Mexico.
One in every 12 people entering this country illegally has a criminal record.
President' Bush's legacy may be to have lost forever a Southwest that President James K. Polk won for the United States.
Both parties are paralyzed by guilt over America's racial sins, and lack the will and fortitude of pervious generations to do what is necessary to defend the nation from the Third World in invasion.
Now ... as if the Third World invasion of the U.S. were not enough, we also have the Islamic fascists out there. How about a few bullet points here also?

It is now becoming clear to almost everyone, even Israelis, that Hezbollah came out the winner in it's five-week war with Israel.
Lebanon has made it clear that it will not disarm Hezbollah. Hezbollah has made it clear it will not disarm.
Iran will announce within the next 30 hours that it will not cease it's nuclear enrichment program.
Islamic radicals across the world are feeling hyped right now by Hezbollah's victory, and by the world's condemnation of Israel for it's strong self-defense response.
Let's face it, things are looking a bit iffy in Iraq right now.
The West has delivered an unmistakable message to the Islamic fascists: We will not fight to defend our freedoms if it means that civilians, especially children, will die.
It occurs to me that none of these problems are insurmountable. We have the ability to defeat Islamic terrorism, and we have the ability to turn-back the Third World invasion of the United States. We have the ability ... we just don't have the will.

We'll have Buchanan on as a guest sometime soon. Should be a raucous time.

If Mr. Buchanan is against illegal immigration from developing countries only, then he is only mildly racist (as there are also illegal immigrants from developed countries, too). If, however, he is against all immigration from developing countries, and is using the illegal alien topic simply as a pretext for stopping all nonEuropean-descended immigration, then he is flat out racist. From some freepers comments on him, he seems to be the latter.

How accurate are the reports of high level support for a Reconquista? Most Latino immigrants, whether they are legal or illegal, do not seem to strongly support the severance of former Mexican territory back to Mexico. They came to the United States mainly because of economics, not conquest.

You're either for Amnesty or you're against it. Pat picked the right side.

On this issue Buchanan clearly understands what he is talking about. But his personality and his history will unfortunately keep many from giving what he has to say serious consideration.

Pat Buchanan has been preaching the downside of open borders and illegal immigration since the early 1990`s. It was part of his "culture war" political agenda versus Bush41 back in the 92 GOP campaign.

examines immigration-related social problems and documents high levels of support among Hispanics for the so-called "Reconquista" of the U.S. Southwest.

This is what I have always had trouble accepting. Most Latins who come here want a job. How deep is this support for "Reconquista"? Did someone do a poll? Ask 1000 Mexicans if they think the U.S. ought to give back Texas and New Mexico, and probably a lot will say, "Yeah, sure." But in practicality how many of them are willing to subvert the law to do it? In other words is "Reconquista" a preference or a burning desire among Hispanics? I would suggest if it is anything at all it is the former, at worst.

These Buchanan threads over the past few days are hilarious.

Seems that Pat is now The Man Who Must Not Be Heard.

On of the few things that I agree with Pat about is the illegal invasion.
