Win or lose, I anticipate having to be hospitalized at some point before Tuesday.

The Red Sox will be crushed by Tuesday. The Yankees lead leaving this series will be insurmountable.

The Red Sox series cost us (Detroit) a top notch second baseman and batter, probably for the rest of the season. Grrrr

Not to antagonize Red Sox Nation, but isn't it the Yankees who have had to hang tough? They lost their two corner outfielders and until buying Abreu at WalMart, had to patch together a line up with the likes of Bubba Crosby. I don't say this as a yankee fan for if Saddam Hussein had a baseball team I'd root for them against the Yankees, but in the interests of accuracy.

because Boston may be the most resilient team in the American League, if not in all of baseball. ...It has been the Yankees that have hung around all season with the glut of injuries, yet Boston could not take advangage. Talk about spin!

Three of the four games in this series will be nationally televised by ESPN this weekend. The only game that wont be show is part of a double header.
Meanwhile, at a point well west of the center of the universe known as the east cost, the defending world champs and the hottest team in baseball since June 1st will lock horns with only two games separating them in the wild card race. These two teams are resigned to the wild card race only because another team in their division (that is completely ignored by the east coast types at ESPN) is the best team in baseball this year.
How many games of this series will the national audience of ESPN see? The same number as Cub world championships since 1908. You east coast Yankee/Sox types and your Bristol bobos can stuff it. Your rivalry is boring and your self importance is nauseating.

It's funny. I had lost all interest in baseball, but for some reason tuned into game 4 of that series in about the eighth inning. It was an interesting game, especially when what's-his-name was put in as a pinch-runner. I couldn't believe that a Red Sox player was actually a threat to steal. The cat and mouse game was great.
The next day, I told my Massachusetts co-workers that the Sox had a good chance to take the series, with Schilling and Martinez coming up in the rotation, and everyone laughed.

Nah, The Red Sox are still cursed, in 2004 they were just lucky enough to run into 2 more powerful curses. The Keith Hernandez curse and the Hillary curse
">The Hillary Curse
Oct 2000.. . .The Yanks last won a World Series defeating the New York Mets in five games.
Nov. 2000....New York elects Hillary Clinton, an Illinois native who declares herself "A lifelong Yankees fan," to the Senate.
Since then it's been a series of disappointments:
2001: The usually reliable Mariano Rivera gets roughed up in the 9th inning of game 7 and the Yankees lose the World Series to Arizona Diamondbacks.
2002: An 8 run 5th inning finishes the Yankees as they Lose the Division Series to Anaheim Angels in four.
2003: Lost World Series to Florida Marlins in six in which the Marlins become the first opposing team to win the World Series at Yankee Stadium since 1981.
2004: In the biggest choke in sports history, After being up 3-0, the Yankees lose the next four and lose the Championship Series to Red Sox in seven.
2005: Yankees bat 0.194 with runners in scoring position and lose Division Series to Anaheim Angels in five.
If the Hillary curse doesn't effect the Mets also, then it doesn't matter if the Red Sox beat the Skanks because it will be a repeat of

Where's the "Resilient Yankees Just Won't Go Away Headline"? We've been without two of our major contributors (some would argue 4) for the majority of the season! Yet we're still in 1st place!

Wow, those Sawx are playing great today! Time to break out that BIG Comeback tape for a good memory, it is going to be this way all weekend.
Believe me...the Red Sawx WILL go away...and very soon.
