WASHINGTON A federal judge ordered tobacco companies Thursday to admit they lied about the harmful effects of smoking cigarettes and to warn consumers in advertisements and packaging that tobacco is addictive.

Remember, according to the Left, they (the Left) are the only ones who do not have to play by the rules.
I believe the NEWEST ruling against big tobacco today is for the tidy sum of $10 billion (which will mean at least $5 billion for the lawyers).
When my Father started smoking in 1906, his Dad remarked, "Son, I've known an awful lot of old men who smoke pipes and cigars. Don't know many old cigarette smokers..."
Where the hell has this judge been? Tobacco companies have had to put warnings in ads and on packaging since the 1960s. This judge must have been living on the moon.

This is like " Groundhog Day "
In his later years,George Burns had a great line about his cigar smoking "three doctors have told me to stop smoking. Two are dead and the third isn't feeling too well".
Rita Rudner, the comedienne once joked that "there are warnings on beer and wine that pregnant women should not drink. If it were not for alcohol most women wouldn't even be that way"
Well, my Dad made it to within a month of his 95th birthday- though in truth, he did quit in his seventies. He was fond of quoting "I've known more old drunks than old Doctors."

Not only are there such people, but there's a large community of them on FreeRepublic. Daily, you'll see them denying tobacco's health effects. Sad cases.

I had originally planned on not bothering my Nanny State Ping list until I read this particular idiocy.........the idiocy is the bolded comments, not the ones that are only italicized.
The poster of the bolded comment has a tendency to post entire websites, that cause people who are on dialup to have thier computers lockup and require rebooting.
And that person has the nerve to talk about sad cases.........????
The sad cases are those types that insist on the use of government guns to get their way.........apparently Alter Kaker is one of them.
When have I ever advocated the use of government to do anything? Are you making things up again, Gabz?

I'm sorry, but the scientific evidence proving you wrong doesn't always fit in a pithy five word response. Perhaps you should consider investing in a decent internet connection.
This is just like...........too trucking fuch.........
EXCUSE ME..........who are you to tell me what I should do? Oh that's right, you're an anti-smoker bigot who believes you are within your rights to tell others what to do.
For your information, skippy, I live in a rural area, if you have a means of getting Verizon, or anyone else to out here to upgrade stuff, go for it, I'll be all supportive.
Now to the topic at hand. I'm thrilled you are so cognizant of the empidemiologic studies reagrind SHS. Can you provide me with a few that show true statistical signifcance?
As I plan to shortly call it a night AND have a full day tomorrow, I won't witch if you take a while to find what I asked for.
People like you always amuse me. I was on a radio talk show a couple of months ago after the host had talked about his huffing and puffing years ago, going up the stairs to the second floor to his office at the newspaper he worked for. All I could do was laugh at him on the air. He was talking about when he was 30, when I was laughing at him I had just finished hand tilling, with a hoe, nearly a 1/4 acre of ground.........I'm 45. He doesn't denigrate smokers anymore. And he's an ex-smoker.
