GAZA (Reuters) - Palestinian gunmen kidnapped two foreign journalists working for the Fox News television channel in Gaza on Monday, a witness said.
The witness, a Palestinian who worked with the two journalists, said one of them, a producer, was an American, and the other, whose nationality he did not know, was a cameraman.
The Fox News bureau in Jerusalem said it was checking the report.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the abduction.
The witness said two vehicles blocked the journalist's transmission truck in the center of Gaza City and a masked man put a gun to the bodyguard's head, forcing him to the ground.
The kidnappers then sped away with the two journalists.
Similar incidents in the past in Gaza have ended with the release, usually within hours, of kidnapped foreign journalists or aid workers.
Many of the abductions were carried out by Palestinians pressing a grievance against the Palestinian government or its security forces
Why would it help to not talk about it?
I am sorry for Steve and his pal, but I admit I was incredibly relieved to learn it was not Jennifer Griffin. She is outstanding and the best they have.
I just got home from work and turned on FNC to get the details on this story, but they're not broadcasting anything about it. What's going on? Why aren't they mentioning it?
It is the question we all are asking. I can only guess there is something going on behind the scenes. Maybe Fox's policy is not to report it so the terror bastards don't get the publicity they crave.
I am only guessing here, mind you. I came late to the table too, and am just now catching up.
Nobody "gets themselves kidnapped" in EMEA. These reporters did not get themselves abducted, and those that were not taken did nothing to cause this crime.
Thanks for the update.
We'll see
How true. We're on first-name basis with all of them, don't even have to mention the last names. When we refer to "Mort and Fred", or "Brit", or "Shep", everybody knows to whom we're referring.
Glad I found this thread--it seems to be the Steve Centanni thread of record.
I am devastated. Steve Centanni is one of my favorite reporters.
Even worse is reading some of them praising Castro. Many of them don't, however, and excoriate the others pretty well. It's just odd that anybody would think he's a great leader. People must have very odd lives to believe such things.
I am catching up also. But you KNOW it has to be hard for Jim Angle and the others to do the news knowing Steve Centanni has been kidnapped.
They have to keep their TV faces on until they know details or can make remarks.
The badguys watch our media. They might be wayching FOX just to see how this is reported.
maybe its Greta...
It should be on Fox tonight.
"Why aren't they mentioning it?"
I don't know. I think it is ridiculous. It is almost too obvious how they are deliberatley ignoring it and it is stupid. They KNOW we are waiting watching, hoping and praying!!
I am ticked.
You should be ashamed of yourself. These men are Americans first not matter what you personally think of news people and the media. The things that can happen to them we should only wish on our enemies the terrorists.
Regarding why Fox isn't talking about it:
FNCers Kidnapped In Gaza
FNC senior VP John Moody's internal message to Fox News personnel about the kidnapping:
"The rumors are true: two of our employees have been abducted in Gaza. We will report this fact via our Israel correspondents. Do NOT do any other segments on it. Do not book guests on this topic. Do not comment officially and of course, not on the air, about it. DO pray for their release. I will keep you posted."

Centanni is one of my favorites too. This is unbelievable. He's been with Fox since the beginning of Fox. Prayers up for their safe return.
IMO, because they want coverage and to beat their chests with who they got. Don't you imagine they are asking the same thing? "I don't get it, brother. You sure they worked for Fox? They haven't said a word"
Thanks for that at least. But with al;l due respect I think it is ridiculous. SOMETHING should be said for pete's sake!!
"We at Fox are doing everything we can to gather information, comfort the families, remain vigilent..."
SOMETHING!!!!
Frankly, they have obviously decided this is the best way to handle it...based on information THEY have and WE don't.
How 'bout we give them some slack until their reporters are safe?
I just disagree. I think they should be upfront and out there. Asking for prayer and vigilence.
