The D.C. Chapter of FreeRepublic.com invites all those who support our troops and their mission fighting the war on terrorists in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere at home and abroad to join us in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, September 23, 2006, from noon to 3 p.m. on the grounds of the Washington Monument at 17th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW.
With the media, liberal politicians and leftist-led so-called antiwar protesters doing everything they can to bring about America's defeat, it is imperative that those of us who love this country do everything in our power to ensure America's victory and her survival as a free republic.
Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff was in Iraq last week trying to assure the troops that they still have the support of the American people. The troops are aware of what happened during Vietnam and they are concerned the country will do the same to them. All they see in the news overseas is antiwar protests because our side doesn't turn out in sufficient numbers when when pro-mission rallies are held.
We are hoping to change this for once by giving folks five weeks notice to plan accordingly. Everyone has their excuses as to why they can't take a day off from their busy lives to send a public message of support for our troops and their mission. Well, after five years of hearing those excuses and with the fate of the nation in the balance, I think it's time to bag the excuses and take a day off and devote it coming to Washington to send a message of support not just to the troops, but to their Commander-in-Chief, the nation and the world.
Also, by turning out you will send a strong message to our enemies abroad and at home that we have not lost our will and that we will not be defeated in Iraq, Afghanistan or anywhere.
Please make the commitment to attend and help spread the word about the rally to your families, friends and co-workers.
As we have done in the past with these rallies, the members of the D.C. Chapter will be digging in to their own pockets to put the rally on, but we could use help. If you'd like to contribute, please click here. We'd like to be able to promote the rally with 10 second radio ads in the D.C. area to help get the word out beyond the Internet. We will also be reaching out to other groups like we did with last September's rally.
I want to thank all our FRiends who have joined and helped us in the past. We hope you'll be able to join us again next month.
Details as to speakers and other events associated with the rally will be announced over the coming weeks.
D.C. Chapter mega ping, please?
I'm in for the rally & sent a small donation - more later.
Thank you!
I'm going to see what I can do. I would love nothing better than to be there. Difficult for me to drive now. If I can gather a bus-load, I can charter a bus. We'll see. Eagles Up!
Kristinn, GOD BLESS YOU!!!!! If only we had millions more patriots like you!
My husband and I will be there on Sept.23 and a donation will go in the mail today.
I will copy your post to Hannity, Glenn Beck and a local pro America radio host, Todd Schnitt.
Perfect timing, I'm attending a County Republican meeting this evening and I'll take copies of your post.
Your post is right on the money. After seeing this weekend's protests around the country, I wondered where are the Americans? Thousands of people took to the streets ON A WEEK DAY to support Mexican immigrants (legal or not!), thousands come out against Israel and America, even tho they live in this great country. Well, Americans better wake up. And, any employer who gave an employee the day off to support immigrants (legal or not) should give employees a day off to support the military who protect their freedoms! God bless America and our military and their families.
Thank you, Kristinn, for all you do! And, thanks to Jim Rob for providing this forum!
See you on Sept 23rd!
On calendar
making arrangements
BTTT
Hope you can make it. If not a bus maybe a passenger van.
Thank you very much!
Great, see you there!
I'll be offline for the next few days. I'll respond when I return.
Ping honey!
DC Chapter mega-ping.
Do you want me to add you to the DC Chapter ping list?
That way, you will be automatically notified when you log onto FR and there is some thread related to the DC Chapter.
TFroatz and Cindy_true_supporter have, I believe, already asked to be on the list. Unless they notify to the contrary, I will include them on the next updated list.
Oh wow, my birthday!
I may have to make this one!
