EGYPTIAN STUDENTSVANISH IN BIG APPLE

Eleven Egyptian students who were supposed to travel to a Montana university after flying to JFK airport late last month disappeared in New York, spurring federal authorities to issue a nationwide alert, officials said yesterday.

The students - who were traveling with six classmates from Mansoura University in Egypt - had their student visas revoked for failing to show up at Montana State University in Bozeman, the officials said.

The other six students made it to the college.

"The FBI and ICE [Immigration and Custom Enforcement] would like to locate these 11 students in order to speak with them," said FBI Special Agent Richard Kolko after the "be-on-the-lookout" alert was issued to all police in the United States.

Kolko said there is no reason to believe the missing students, all men around 20 years old, represent a threat.

Other than the fact that they're military-age moslems and are unaccounted for, there is no reason to believe that they are a threat. Nor is that man behind the curtain.

If, "there is no reason to believe the missing students, all men around 20 years old, represent a threat," then why was the "be-on-the-lookout" alert issued to all police in the United States?

Is TALKING OUT OF BOTH SIDES OF YOUR MOUTH a mandatory class at the FBI academy?

Agreed.

Now, it is entirely possible that these 11 towelheads wanted to come to the US for some partying and to hang out. We can't rule that out.

But given the problems that this demographic (military-age Muslim males) has brought to the world in recent years, it'd be stupid for the govt to assume they're not a threat.

I am sure they just don't want to frighten the NY public (of which I am a member). When exactly the opposite (telling the complete unvarnished truth) would aid us much, much more.

Eleven Egyptian students

I think it should read Eleven Egyptian "students."

Uh-huh! Just like prior to September 11, 2001, Mr. Atta and friends didn't represent a threat.

Yeah, guess you can't be a student if you don't show up for school.

Of course not! Arab men around 20 years old come into our country all the time on student visas and then never show up for class. There's no reason to think these guys represent a threat.

(actually, there are about 3000 reasons to think so.)

Why oh why do we even let potential jihadists into the country? Have we learned nothing from September 11th?

They might want to check in Dearborn.

Or, maybe they'd want to check my local home town pizza parlour, which was bought by 3 Egyptians of military age who can barely speak English. They make terrible pizza, use the kitchen sinks multiple times daily for ablution - but still somehow manage to stay in business (with few customers).
