Lebanese report: Hezbollah planted disabled children in basement to die

A French language Lebanese publication, citing an unnamed source in Hezbollah, has claimed that the organization placed a rocket launcher on the roof of the notorious building in Qana to provoke an Israeli attack and brought invalid children inside to serve as victims and blacken Israel's name.

The Lebanese magazine LIBANOSCOPIE, associated with Christian elements which support the anti-Syrian movement called the "March 14 Forces," report that Hizbullah masterminded a plan that would result in the killing of innocents in Qana, in an attempt to foil Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora's "Seven Points Plan" calling for deployment of the Lebanese army in southern Lebanon and the disarming of Hizbullah. The magazine reported:

"We have it from a credible source that Hezbollah, alarmed by Siniora's plan, has concocted an incident that would help thwart the negotiations.... Hezbollah gunmen placed a rocket launcher on the roof in Qana and brought disabled children inside, in a bid to provoke a response by the Israeli Air Force. In this way, they were planning to take advantage of the death of innocents and curtail the diplomatic initiative," the site stated.

The site's editors claimed that Hezbollah staged the event because of Qana's symbolic significance: "They used Qana because the village had already turned into a symbol for massacring innocent civilians, and so they set up 'Qana 2'." The incident has indeed been dubbed "The second Qana massacre" by the Arab media.

The scenario described, which has yet to be confirmed by a named source, would explain the fact that the victims were not residents of the building and also the disproportionate number of small children and the lack of adult males among them.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese Red Cross reported on Monday that only 28 bodies, 19 of them children, were removed from the rubble. The count is half that of the 50-60 bodies still being reported by news agencies, quoting Lebanese security officials.

I believe the Hezzies have returned to their ancient past, they say these children will be with Allah, but I say the Hezzies have offered them up as a sacrifice..... Anciently these people worshiped Baal. Part of their practice was offering children to the furnaces to be burned alive. Seems to me the Hezzies did the same thing. They don't worship God. They worship Baal.......

As yet another body was removed from the wreckage yesterday morning, Naim Raqa, the head of the civil defence team searching the ruins, hung his head in grief: "When they found them, they were all huddled together at the back of the room ... Poor things, they thought the walls would protect them."

"Where is the humanity? Why are these massacres being committed against civilians?” asked Naim Raqa, the head of the Lebanese civil defence unit in nearby Jawaya, who was helping the rescue.

"I was in Qana in '96," the exhausted rescue worker said. "Israel, when it is weakened, commits bigger massacres.

"We were told about this massacre -- I don't know what time it was. We couldn't move at night, even in ambulances, because of the shelling. They should allow us to move so we can work."

He wiped beads of sweat from his brow.

"They were still asleep, hiding. They were all near the walls, huddled in fear. We found many of them like this," he said, drawing his knees and elbows into his chest in a fetal-like position. "The poor things thought the walls would protect them. I had the honor of removing about 15 of them."

His break was interrupted by a colleague calling for stretchers as the bodies of two more young boys were removed, their tiny pajama shorts and T-shirts covered in soil and dust.

Raqa didn't wait for the stretchers to arrive. He scooped up one child; a bystander carried the other.

Hi mystery. I have no doubt the Hezbollah scum set up that horrible incident in Qana. It's pretty obvious based on what we know of the incident. My hatred for the whole Islamofacist ideology knows no bounds. They are the Nazis and Stalinist stormtroopers of our time, and they must be defeated at all costs.

Having said that, I'm still appalled at how cold-blooded too many people here on FR have been regarding the innocent children killed in that incident -- indeed for all the innocent children caught up in the horror that is Islamofacism.

These are the same types of people who strapped an explosive vest to a 15 year old Down's Syndrome boy in Iraq.

These are the same types of people who stopped an Israeli woman's car so they could shoot her and her children at close range. They shot a little girl, about 2 yrs old as I recall, and shot the mother multiple times in the abdomen, killing her unborn child.

Because they were Jews.

I tend to agree with the sentiment, but I was responding specifically to why Hezbullah hides behind women and children. It's not because they think Israel won't strike them, its because they want Israel to strike them. They then parade the dead bodies around and hope either the spineless international community will pressure Israel to stop, or that Israel itself will lose its stomach.

I think the tactic has run its course, though. Israel and even some of the western countries recognize this for what it is and have decided to grit it out, placing blame on Hezbullah for the deaths.

It's very sad to see children die like this, and gut wrenching to know that you have no choice but to fight Hezbullah on their terms like this. I'm sad, but unwavering at this point. There is no choice. The alternative is to let Hezbullah get back on its feet and eventually get stronger with better weapons and cause more damage in the future. This time above all others there can be no quarter for Hezbullah ... or Hamas for that matter. It's time to stomp on them until they are so weak that saner heads can prevail and perhaps a genuine peace will prevail when its over.
