Ahmadinejad defiant, challenges Bush to TV debate
I'm not the only one asking for debates and being rebuffed these days. August 1939 Alert from the Hizballah News Agency, aka Reuters, with thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist:
TEHRAN (Reuters) - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad voiced defiance on Tuesday as a deadline neared for Iran to halt work the West fears is a step toward building nuclear bombs, and challenged President Bush to televised debate.
In a news conference, Ahmadinejad condemned the U.S. and British role in the world since World War Two but made no direct mention of the international nuclear confrontation.
"I suggest holding a live TV debate with Mr. George W. Bush to talk about world affairs and the ways to solve those issues," he said.

"Iranian Statements on the Occasion of the Inauguration of the Arak Heavy Water Plant"
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Shortly after Iran gave its reply regarding the E.U. incentives package, Iran announced the inauguration of several plants for heavy water production in Arak, and conducted an extensive-call-up military drill, named "Zarbat-e Zol Faqar," which began on August 22, 2006. [1]
Statements by senior Iranian officials on the occasion of the inauguration of the heavy water plants in Arak emphasized that Iran does not pose a threat to any other nation, Israel included.
On the other hand, several Iranian officials stated that there is a possibility that Iran's nuclear technology will allow it to manufacture an atomic bomb, and that the West's efforts and empty promises would not deter it from realizing its goals.

(08-29) 15:20 PDT SAN FRANCISCO -- As many as 14 people were injured this afternoon by a motorist who drove around San Francisco running them down before he was arrested, authorities said.
Seven of those injured were in critical condition, police and firefighters said.
Authorities have identified the man who was arrested as Ohmeed Aziz Popal, who has an address in Ceres.
Authorities said they believe Popal was the same driver who ran over a 55-year-old man walking in a bicycle lane in Fremont, at Fremont Boulevard near Ferry Lane, just after noon. That victim died.
Popal was arrested at a Walgreens at Spruce and California streets.

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A Fremont man is in custody after police say he drove his SUV into numerous pedestrians in San Francisco Tuesday afternoon.
The Associated Press says the vehicle involved is registered to Omeed A. Popal of Fremont. San Francisco Police spokesman Neville Gittings says the spree started at Sutter and Webster. Witnesses say the SUV appeared to intentionally target pedestrians and people on bicycles.
Paramedics took at least eleven people to area hospitals. Investigators say it appears other victims may have walked themselves to the emergency room. There are at least a dozen different accident locations including:
Sutter at Webster
Bush at Divisidero
Sutter at Steiner
California at Laurel
California at Fillmore
Fillmore at Pine
Bush at Pierce
1850 Fillmore
Filmorre at Bush
Spruce at California
3250 California.
Gittings says San Francisco Police are talking with Fremont police about another hit and run accident reported Tuesday morning in the East Bay community. The victim in that wreck has died. Police are looking into possible connections between the two sets of crimes.
Three people in San Francisco suffered life-threatening injuries. They were all taken to San Francisco General Hospital.

7 critical; driver believed to have struck, killed a man in Fremont earlier"

Excerpt from your link:
>>One victim, Pedro Aglugov, 70, was sitting at a table at a sidewalk cafe at California and Fillmore with his head bandaged with gauze, holding an ice pack to one elbow.
"He was going real fast," Aglugov said of the driver. "I was lucky I wasn't hurt more.''
Eliseo Billones Jr., 24, a canvasser for Greenpeace, was standing on the corner when Aglugov was hit.
"He was going berserk," Billones said of the driver. "It was a red light and he just ran the red light. I saw him (Aglugov) hit the corner of the bumper and tumble.''
Barclay Lynn, 39, of San Francisco, said she and a friend were driving east on Bush when they saw a black SUV driving away and saw a motorcyclist who had been hit.
"The motorcyclist stood in the intersection trying to signal the driver to stop,'' Lynn said. The SUV then "went speeding in reverse on Bush heading west, weaving in and out of traffic. The whole right side of his SUV was smashed in.''
At Frankie's Bohemian Cafe at Divisadero and Pine, a man named William, who asked that his last name not be used, said he was walking south on Divisadero when "we heard the thump, turned around, saw bodies flying.''
He described the vehicle as a black Honda Pilot SUV that looked new and had a windshield that was shattered on the right side.
The driver went down Pine and Bush, "stood on the gas,'' then a couple of minutes later "came flying up through the bus lane'' headed north on Divisadero.
After hearing that the driver had been arrested, William said, "Unfortunately, they didn't shoot him right on the spot.'' <<
William has the right idea
In other words, another long -- driver.
Nope, that was misspelled.
In other words, another lone -- driver.

Excellent post Donna Lee. Sadly too many do not "get it," and probably won't until something evil happens that affects them or someone they love as a result of what liberals like them have done and continue doing to protect the rights of those whose only aim is to destroy us.
