Ok, couldn't find any explosions, but found that someone shot through a PD window:

Unable to locate any explosions in the L.A. area.
Explosions (and arrests) in Turkey, explosions in Iraq,
an explosion at an underwear factory in Greece (bomb in the garbage
can by the front entrance); tanker explosion in the USA - possibly driving
error may have been the factor there -- anyway it was an accident; and
on the 25th, an explosion at a cereal factory in the USA (weather-related;safeguards malfunctioned).

PNP: Metro bombing thwarted with suspects' arrest (underreported story)
ABS CBN ^ | August 29, 2006
Posted on 08/28/2006 11:32:22 PM PDT by jdm
The Philippine National Police on Tuesday said the alleged plot to sow terror in Metro Manila similar to the September 11 bombings in the United States has been thwarted with the arrest of three suspects over the weekend.
"Alam naman nating lahat na ang target talaga is Metro Manila so nagpakalat na kami ng information. (An all-out information campaign was conducted because we all know that Metro Manila is a prime target)," PNP chief Director General Oscar Calderon told a DZMM interview.
Police and military agents nabbed Razak Macarimbang, Wahad Sandigan and Sammy Gampong before boarding a SuperFerry vessel bound for Manila on Sunday. Authorities seized two improvised bombs from the suspects at Polloc port in Maguindanao.
Police linked the suspects to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front. Calderon, however, said that MILF spokesman Eid Kabalu has denied that the suspects belong to the group.
Calderon said Macarimbang, Sandigan and Gampong are now detained at a military camp in Cotabato.
Reports over the weekend said two bombers have slipped past security and are planning to attack for the 9/11 anniversary.
The National Capital Region Police Office had initially denied receiving intelligence reports about the supposed bombing plot.
Reynaldo Varilla, NCRPO chief, however, said that policemen will remain on alert.
Well, it could be a case of no news is good news -- maybe.
I'll check again in a couple of hours.

"Hezbollah building bunkers near Israeli border
Underground system in Palestinian refugee camps violates U.N. agreement"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "JERUSALEM Hezbollah, with the help of Iran, has started building underground war bunkers in Palestinian camps in south Lebanon just a few miles from the Israeli border, according to senior Lebanese officials.
During its 34-day confrontation with Hezbollah in Lebanon, Israel destroyed scores of complex Hezbollah bunkers that snaked along the Lebanese side of the Israel-Lebanon border. Military officials said they were surprised by the scale of the Hezbollah bunkers, in which Israeli troops reportedly found war rooms with advanced eavesdropping and surveillance equipment they noted were made by Iran.
A senior Lebanese official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told WND Hezbollah has started building a new set of bunker system, this time in Palestinian refugee camps.
"The Lebanese Army doesn't have the authority to patrol inside the camps," said the official. "Hezbollah knows it is safe there to rebuild their war bunkers, and they began doing so with Iranian help."
A second Lebanese official confirmed the information."

ATS grills 2 men held for forging papers to get mobile SIM cards
One traced from cellphone records, which showed calls from Pak, Nepal
Express News Service
Mumbai, August 21: Two persons arrested by the Pydhonie police last week for allegedly procuring mobile SIM cards using forged documents are being questioned by the state Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) for any links with July 11s serial blasts.
Junaid Jabbar Dalal (38) and Abdul Ayub Sama (20) were arrested by the police on August 14 and have since been remanded to police custody till August 28 for cheating and forging documents.
The duo came under the police scanner after it was found that a particular cellphone number, among more than a 100 numbers under electronic surveillance after the blasts, had been receiving calls from Pakistan, Nepal and China.
Investigations revealed that the number was registered in the name of Abdul Mohammed Sati (24), a businessman and resident of Dongri. During interrogation, Sati allegedly said he had stopped using the number after 2004.
But when the police scanned the records of the cellphone number, they found that frequent calls were being made to and received from another number. This number was found to be registered in the name of Mohammed Shaikh (40), also a businessman. When interrogated, Shaikh told the police that the numberinitially with Satiwas being used by Junaid, owner of Z Y Enterprises in Versova.
Investigators found that Junaid, originally a resident of Dhoraji village in Rajkot district of Gujarat, owned the SIM card and had bought it from Abdul Samaa cellphone and mobile SIM card dealer in Dongri.
When the police found out Junaid was visiting Gujarat, they contacted the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad, which picked him up and handed him over to the Pydhonie police.
In their remand plea, the police told the court that Junaid had not even submitted the mandatory documents required to get a new SIM card. His arrest led the police to Sama, who allegedly told the police that he had used Satis driving licence and forged his signature to get a new SIM in his name, which he later sold to Dalal.

Toronto Police investigating possible link between debit-card scam and FBI-led LTTE probe
National Post ^ | 2006-08-29
Posted on 08/29/2006 4:01:17 AM PDT by Clive
Toronto Police are still probing any possible link between an alleged debit-card scam they broke up over the weekend and an FBI-led international terror investigation that involved 13 suspects in Canada and the U.S. last week believed to be procuring arms for the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. Five men were arrested in Toronto on Saturday, allegedly in the act of emptying victims' accounts using stolen information obtained through a compromised debit machine, said Detective Sergeant Stephen Craddock. Between May and this past week, he said the ring is suspected of bilking a still-uncalculated amount from thousands of users of a debit machine at a Mississauga restaurant. Charged with 25 offences in relation to the alleged scam are Ganeshananthan Mahadevan, 36, Thuthikaran Thurapalasingam, 26, Tharmaraj Nagularajah, 26, Thubaharan Subas, 22, and Kishokanth Tharmapalan, 26.

For those who don't quite "get it" and those who do and would like a powerful article to send them
Last year at UCLA, I debated a professor who argued that Israel and the Palestinians were moral equivalents. He is not alone (especially on college campuses) in his lack of understanding of the immoral nature of the Islamic enemies of America and Israel.
Thus it is important to remind people once again about the moral world inhabited by the people we are fighting, whom President George W. Bush calls the Islamic Fascists. Societal examples:

12 SUR 13 gang members and associates netted in weekend operation by ICE, Orange County Sheriffs Office, and City of Apopka Police Department
Arrests as a result of joint initiative by ICE and locals to keep communities safe
ORLANDO- A 26-year-old member of SUR 13 gang convicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon was among 12 Mexican gang members and associates arrested over the weekend in a joint operation between U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Orange County Sheriff's Office and the City of Apopka Police Department.
Francisco Najera, a national of Mexico, is now in ICE custody facing immigration charges for being in violation of immigration laws. Under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), Najera is removable from the country for being convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude.
Also arrested during the targeted enforcement operation was 20-year-old Arnulfo Valdez-Juarez, of Mexico. Valdez-Juarez was charged with Homicide earlier this year. He too is in violation of immigration laws and has been placed in removal proceedings.
These are the latest arrests under ICE's Operation Community Shield. The initial target of Operation Community Shield was the MS-13, which is the largest and most violent street gang in the country. In May 2005, ICE expanded Operation Community Shield to include all criminal street gangs with foreign-born members. With the launch of this second phase, ICE's Operation Community shield aims to ensure that gang members have no safe haven in our nation's communities. Since the launch of Operation Community Shield, there have been more than 3,450 street gang members and associates arrested nationwide.
This initiative also involves strong partnerships and cooperation with existing federal, state and local anti-gang efforts. Such partnerships are essential to the success of the initiative and to ensure officer safety during operations. The enforcement actions to date have been conducted in coordination with law enforcement at the federal, state and local levels.
Some of those arrested have a history of criminal activity including arrests for attempted murder, aggravated assault and possession of marijuana.
Five detainers were lodged against gang members and associates currently in local custody facing various criminal charges. All five are also facing administrative charges for being in violation of immigration laws.
We are committed to working with our federal law enforcement partners to ensure that our law abiding citizens are protected from egregious offenders who seek to terrorize our community, said Robert Weber, special agent-in-charge of ICE investigations in Tampa. We will not tolerate gang activity in our city, and we will use all of our law enforcement tools to thwart the criminal efforts of gangs such as the SUR 13.
Criminal aliens have a very high rate of recidivism and often re-victimize the community in which they reside, said Michael Rozos, field office director for ICE detention and removal in Florida. With every arrest we enhance public safety, while restoring integrity to our nation's immigration system.
This is exactly how it is supposed to work, said Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary. We had a Federal, city, and county agency come together in a multi-agency investigation and not only take some very dangerous criminals off the street but initiate the proceedings that will remove them from out country. I couldn't be more please over what this operation accomplished this weekend.
We will continue working with our law enforcement partners at the local and federal level to ensure that our community remains protected from gangs such as the SUR 13, said Chuck Vavrek, Apopka chief of police.
There were also six non-gang related arrests over the weekend. The six Mexican nationals arrested were identified as being illegally present in the country and were charged administratively for being in violation of immigration laws. All will remain in ICE custody awaiting the outcome of their cases.
