Kerry calls for universal health insurance by 2012
Reuters ^ | July 31, 2006 | Reuters

Democratic Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts on Monday proposed that all Americans be required to have health insurance by 2012, and that the government should take steps to make sure anyone uninsured at that point receives coverage.

But if we're not there by 2012, we will require that all Americans have health insurance, with the federal government guaranteeing they have the means to pay for it," Kerry said.

He said his plan could be financed by repealing the Bush administration's tax cuts for people earning more than $200,000 a year. He did not say how he would enforce the proposal to have all Americans insured if his plan is not implemented by 2012.

Perhaps he can get his wife to pay for it all.

You are very close, my friend.

I think that Hillary Rodham (and I predict that she'll change her name before the election) will nominate a male with military bona fides, but Mister Kerry's are a liability.

To be sure, the very thorough Hillary knows that there might be a (figurative) IED in Kerry's records, which is why he doesn't do an unrestricted Form 180.

I suspect that Mister Kerry had a less than honorable discharge circa 1972, and if this were the case, this fact would offend >50 percent of the voters.

Most likely Veeps for Hillary would be Gen Clark or John McCain.

"Your thoughts give me great pause."

We all need to work with ferocity to turn the tide and see to it that limited government conservatives get elected to office. This requires very hard work, and it really comes down to educating people. I'm afraid it may be too late. I believe permanent damage was done even before I was born. The '60s generation' will be known as the origin of our undoing as the free nation that our founding fathers intended.

"And you can get your very own autographed copy of my book explaining just how I did it, here tonight for only $29.99

"Hey, its worth every penny. Believe me I know.

"And I would highly recommend it, because if you can't become a sleazball kept man like me, you will be "directed" to belong to mine--and that Senator what's her name from N.Y.'s--Universal Health Coverage."

"Heh, heh, as the ol saying goes, 'you can pay me now, or........"

I'm saddened that you even feel the need to say "limited government conservatives ". Its unfortunate the most conservative voters want government handouts just like the liberals do ( eg Medicaid, Farm bill). Even 20 years ago conservative meant conservative.

And I have a good guess how he wants to fund his plan:

Why if he were elected President there would be no sick people. He would enforce legislation making illness against the law. Empty hospitals would then be available to house the 20 million guest workers that he and Senator Kennedy will let in.

then-President Bill Clinton's sweeping health care proposals went down in flames.

It's all in how you choose to read things. (:^D)

Gee, I thought we already pay for universal health care. It is called going to the emergency room and anyone can do it.

This is the worst Idea I've ever heard. Let's give MASS 10 years and see how many people still live there before making it so we have no where to run.

Canada will protest this strongly.

Where then would Canadians go for decent healthcare?
