Kerry calls for universal health insurance by 2012

Democratic Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts on Monday proposed that all Americans be required to have health insurance by 2012, and that the government should take steps to make sure anyone uninsured at that point receives coverage.

But if we're not there by 2012, we will require that all Americans have health insurance, with the federal government guaranteeing they have the means to pay for it," Kerry said.

He said his plan could be financed by repealing the Bush administration's tax cuts for people earning more than $200,000 a year. He did not say how he would enforce the proposal to have all Americans insured if his plan is not implemented by 2012.

Here is what is going to happen, instead of your employer paying for health care the bill, you are going to pay for it. Self employed have been doing it all along.

This is flat-out socialism, plain and simple. Employers will shut down their doors istead of having government regulators force them to provide coverage for unskilled workers. The payroll tax will double. Physicians would stop practicing.

Mr. Kerry - get rid of the government rules, lawyers, mandates, and regulations. Give existing seniors on Medicare and those with clear disabilities a healthcare account that pays for everything health-related so doctors can get paid on the spot. Force able-bodied adults abusing Medicaid to pay for their own private insurance, or create HSAs out of Medicaid. End the FICA tax so employers can provide healthcare incentives and workers can afford them.

The solution to healthcare is right in front of politicians' noses.

One of the major foundation granters for Healthy People 2010 is UMDNJ/Robert Wood Johnson. [see post 23 at that Healthy People thread]

I wonder if this [Healthy People 2010] is being delayed due to this investigation? This link has turned into a bump thread:

He said his plan could be financed by repealing the Bush administration's tax cuts for people earning more than $200,000 a year

It's an economic lesson that Kerry and his fellow collectivists will never, ever learn.

Eliminating tax cuts for those earning more than $200,000 per year will drop a 200,000 ton anchor on our economic engine. Instead of pulling more money into the treasury, there would be LESS.

To make up for the shortfall, a President Kerry would do 3 things.

First, blame the shortfall on Republicans,

Second, eliminate the tax cuts for all, and increase taxes on almost everyone, and,

Third, nationalize health care in America (and redistribute services away from us Payers and toward the alleged Poor.)

But wait, there's a big, big bonus in Mister Kerry's plan.

Free medical care would bring in more illegal aliens than ever.

.

By the thuggish iron fist of government, of course...

You got that right.

When people ask me what my political affiliation is; I tell them I'm a Constitutionalist but I vote Republican. That really confuses them, and they ask me what the hell i'm talking about. My initial response is:

I just want the fukcing government to leave me alone! You can take 90% of DC confiscators and send 'em home unemployed. The only entity of the Federal government that should exist is The Department of War.

Of course, at that point they think I'm a lunatic. But there are a lot of other conservative business friends of mine who concur with my opion and approach.

Repeal the tax cut for the rich (and the middle class) and the economic activity it generated slows. Less economic activity = more layoffs = less revenue. The freshman student from Economics 101 can figure this out.

Spot on. If the money is churning, people are earning, spending, companies growing, hiring income earners, spending... and keeps the cycle churning. Pretty friggin simple concept eh, John Kerry.

Duh... I dunno. I just marry billionaires for a living. And try to confiscate more of your money (labor), cuz that's all I know.

He did not say how he would enforce the proposal...

First, he'd make them wear armbands, then, he'd put all people unwilling to buy insurance into "camps"...
