To: Common Tator

That is exactly what I've always thought about those long running threads.

I fully support compilation threads and bump lists....but the long running threads where everyone keeps new information aren't functional.

They would work ONLY if they were limited to the topic, and not someone's recipe, and someone else's review of a teevee show, and so on. Even then, separate stories need to be posted. The compilation for the day would be nice, if it were a true compilation and not so much chatter and "bumps."

I don't see why we can't have a bit of both. The on-going threads can be useful (although they often get into mere chat), but I think Breaking posts get more attention, and are easier to track and find again. In any case, I don't think Freepers should be criticized for putting them up.

The long threads are usually not worth the trouble to read. Recipes, vacation plans, chat.

I agree.

Make a new thread and post it on the side if it is that important.

Maybe a "Live" list of links, just like the lists for Breaking News, etc. might help, too.
