Israeli combat soldiers walk along the Israeli northern border with Lebanon. US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is pursuing a new round of Middle East diplomacy as the Lebanon conflict moved into its 19th day, with Israel and Hezbollah exchanging firepower and threats in defiance of international moves toward a ceasefire
Cajungirl! I haven't seen you in forever.
I think it's a standstill and not over. I do worry it gives the jihadists time to regroup and rearm, but I trust Israel knows something we don't know. Maybe they're waiting for OUR bombs to reach THEM. LOL
Thanks anyway. I won't mind being wrong if you are proved right.
*sigh*
Has anyone seen news of the soldiers they snatched? I have not. istm that the Hesbos might have played that ganbit if they have them alive.

well, if they are massing - what are they waiting for?
Who says they're waiting?
We've been watching the ground ops since around 0500 this morning, only the newsies took their eye off the ball.
Coincidence?
I am sure that President Bush wants to find out where Tony Blair's head is now...he was calling for an immediate cease fire this morning...
Ask Lizarde. I just posted the "cute" picture. I didn't see the show.
Trust Isreal .. they know what they are doing
I think people forget this is modern warfare. And WWII took four years. Perhaps they believed the myth about Israels military. A guerilla war is not like what we envision as a war. Full of starts and stops. People seem to be longing for an old fashioned war where the army just parades in full of armor blasting everything in sight. Not gonna happen.
NO...it shows that CNN, Time Magazine, and the BBC are sellouts to the terrorists...
exactly
Hezbollah has some conflicting circumstances to deal with.
Conflicting circumstances or not, if Nasarallah keeps going he loses and loses big, Israel is giving him an out and if he doesn't take it the IDF/IAF and all the rest of Israel are going to put a big hurt on Hizbullah that no amount of media spin will help. If he stops, he takes his chances with the Arab world, and perhaps lives to fight another day. We are going to find out real soon what his decision is.
You're right. Also, we've been fighting the war on terror for 5 years now. I'm sure we've made mistakes in every area of the war. It's the nature of war.
We watch The History Channel a lot and there's a show called Great Blunders in History or something like that. Much of that show pertains to mistakes made during WWII by the allies including the US.
It's so easy to look back and criticize; it's much more difficult to be patient, accept mistakes and move on.
OK, thanks. Get a tissue.
We might as well face it. All have performed down to expectations. It was too good to be true that Israel could finally be ISRAEL.
The IDF could do the job, HAVE been doing the job, and now their orders have ceased! There will be no further opportunity, the momentum is lost.
Ha ha ha. We're astute observers -- until a good looking guy opens his mouth, then we forget to listen. lol
I think we're all getting wound a bit tight after a long and stressful day. And the night promises no respite. :-/
Pinz
It is a good thing you didn't watch GRETA...
Her two "Generals" just said that Hezbollah is winning this war "big time".

Weakest Link
We have all heard the old saying a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. A wonderful saying to challenge kids playing sports to push themselves as hard as they can and then some more to push to new levels in their individual performance.
But what can a people do when this old saying comes to visit a nation at war and the weakest link is the very people we have elected to represent us in government?
Between phone calls to friends that are wearing the uniform and still in the fight to the latest war song making the rounds in the IDF, I see an army that is stronger than it has ever been.
The IDF, if turned loose can win this war in short order, and save the world.
Save the world?
Yes save the world, this war started on July 12th after head of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani on the way back from Europe stopped in Syria to turn his junk yard dog Nasrallah loose on Israel.
The mission of the attack at the order of Iran and the backing of Syria by Hizballah was four fold.
First was to see if Israel would just take the kidnapping of our soldiers and maybe a day or two of rocket fire, when Israel passed this test and struck back the goals changed due to Israels response. In other words Israel has not totally lost the will to fight back, so now the mission becomes more long term and more dangerous to the well being of Israel and the west.
Second in the short term the purpose is to take the worlds attention away from the nuclear weapons program of Iran.
Third is to get a clear reading on the courage and wisdom of both the leadership in Israel and the western world. To gauge if the west has the courage needed to wage a long bloody war against Islamic terror and Iran. In this both Israel and the west after the event in Qana will fail. Israel failed from the start by trying to solve the problem with an air war.
Fourth is to allow Hizballah to position itself after many civilian casualties in Lebanon to gain even more power after the next election. Watch in three years for Hizballah to at least double in size in the Parliament of Lebanon.
With weak leadership in Israel, to have the best army in the world is to no avail, for it the army is only as strong as the weakest link in this case the civilian government.
This fact will result in a new wave of recruits for not just Hizballah but all the terror groups in the Islamic terror fold. But even more important it will strengthen Irans resolve to push for nuclear weapons.
