I think people forget this is modern warfare. And WWII took four years. Perhaps they believed the myth about Israels military. A guerilla war is not like what we envision as a war. Full of starts and stops. People seem to be longing for an old fashioned war where the army just parades in full of armor blasting everything in sight. Not gonna happen.

You're right. Also, we've been fighting the war on terror for 5 years now. I'm sure we've made mistakes in every area of the war. It's the nature of war.
We watch The History Channel a lot and there's a show called Great Blunders in History or something like that. Much of that show pertains to mistakes made during WWII by the allies including the US.
It's so easy to look back and criticize; it's much more difficult to be patient, accept mistakes and move on.
