At this point I believe Bush & Cheney did not push out information on the transfer of WMD to Syria because they did not have indisputable proof and they knew the MSM would work feverishly to discredit the Syrian transfer story and relentlessly question the administration's honesty. So I think Bush, Cheney, and Rove probably decided that putting out this Syrian transfer as their official position ultimately would not change anyone's views about WMD but would only make more voters question Bush's honesty. Therefore they went with the explanation that the pre-war intelligence was faulty, even though I believe the pre-war intelligence was largely correct and there may be a huge story being kept under wraps about an Iraqi nuclear weapons program operating in Libya. If Saddam was running a nuke weapons program in Libya, this story is probably under wraps to protect intelligence sources and methods.

In any event, the MSM's coverage of the WMD issue has been pathetic and stupid and the MSM fails to understand that whether or not Iraq had WMD on the shelf, as opposed to the capability to manufacture it within 3-12 months, only affects the timing of when they could attack the West with WMD. Too bad Bill Buckley is retired from TV now and wasn't able to add some rationality into the WMD debate.

Forgot to mention one thing: notice how MSM political bias is now so serious that it's affecting our national security policy. Beyond doing what's best for America, President Bush now has to factor in the bias and distortion in the media coverage of everything he does and how this affects the poltical arena in which he operates. His job is now almost as difficult as being President of Russia. I tell ya, it's time right now to strongly support internet news sources and talk radio and crush the stupid MSM once and for all.

And .. the trucks were RUSSIAN!

That info was obtained by Israel's satellite images of the trucks.

Let me tell you, though, Putin and the Russians did us a big favor by moving those chemical weapons out of Iraq. Have you heard of Gulf War Syndrome from Desert Storm? Well it's worse than you'll ever hear in the media. I've talked to some people who work at VA Hospitals, and some of the Desert Storm vets are having a tough time with their health, while the Vietnam vets are doing much better. The death toll from Gulf War Syndrome is much higher than most people realize: I've heard numbers of 10,000 or more from reasonably credible sources on talk radio shows.

we gave them time to carry the water and they have tired before the fire is out. sooner or later both Syria and Iran have to be contained, taken down a notch or two and what a better time than now..

You are large on platitudes and short on specifics. What exactly is "taken down a notch or two" mean? What speciifcally do you propose?

i take exception that the Israelis are doing all that they can...

Specifics, specifics, specifics. "All they can" includes a nuclear attack. Do you think this is what they should do?

Please clarify.

Are you saying that the Commander in Chief is treating the War on Terror.........specifically in Iraq, 'like some sort of game?'

It seems like you were, but I don't want to jump to any conclusions.

The troops who serve under him might tend to disagree with you if that's what you really meant to say.

Oh I agree Russia did us a favor (and it saved our men from being killed or destroyed by that vile stuff .. but Russia did not do it for us .. they did it to recoup some of their losses.

I have read the same thing.

The information was hidden from the (anti-American) MSM to protect the troops.

I'd like to believe this is true, but with the full force of the U.S. military coming into the region looking for one thing, the weapons, it doesn't make any sense that Syria would be willing to take them. It's like being in a car that gets pulled over and as the cop approaches, the driver hands you a huge bag of cocaine and says "Here, could you hold this for a minute."

"They are acting as someone who has a plan and the timing is not right."
Perhaps the syrians are waiting aminodinnerjacket to drop "the big one" on Israel, discumbobulate the Israelis, and then the eye doctor will "Sanitize" the region with little fear of reprisals from the Israelis.?????

I think this may be the key to your question. An excerpt from the thread here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1674035/posts

... the real news about President Bush's open mic night at the G-8 summit is not his use of a common vulgarity, but an exchange between Bush and Tony Blair regarding Syrian dictator Bashar Assad.

BLAIR: What does he think? He thinks that if Lebanon turns out fine, if you get a solution in Israel-Palestine, if Iraq ends in the right way--

BUSH: Yeah, he's through.

BLAIR: He's had it. That's what this whole thing's about. It's the same thing with Iran.

---
It seems they're stating that Assad's job/life is on the line with this stuff. Let me know if I'm not reading this right.

The has been alleged for years now.

It's nice to see the documents prove it.

No, I'm saying that many of our so-called congresscritters are playing games with our Troop's lives by not going on the attack in the public square, especially in time of war.

My son served a year in Baqubah, Iraq (where al Zarkowi was taken out), six of my Boy Scouts (I've said this before, but it bears repeating again and again) in our small town Troop have served. Three of the six in the first push to Baghdad--Marines; one Army Infantry (3ID), one USAF (Japan), one USCG (Alaska). No, we've all done our share of serving our country including myself, we owe no apologies to anyone.

Our President basically stands ALONE surrounded by cowards, back-stabbers and fifth columnists, there are exceptions of course, but I think they can be counted on one hand but history tells us that this is often the case.

I WILL zap the President (and our Texas Senators, representatives and governor), however, on his (their) lack of real action concerning our borders. I have lived in Texas basically all of my life, half of that on the border, I'm not a fool, our southern border is a joke, and still is--a dangerous joke.
