Weekend Preview Analysis
No one has complained about the format, so I'm sticking with it.
Of the Sunday shows I'm most interested in ... well, frankly, none of them. I want to hear what the various Israeli diplomats have to say, but I've been hearing the genocidal rants of the Jihadi's for most of my 51 years of life, so I'm really bored with why their reasons why they are entitled to commit genocide against the Jews and to enslave everyone else, including me an my children.
Bremer is trying to cover his butt for all of the screw ups he made while "in charge of Iraq." IMHO he's also covering for Armitage and, ultimately, Saint Colin. I bet that he doesn't mention either of them, however.
Tom Friedman appears to be the darling of the NBC media elite, and therefore of the Clinton's, so I expect nothing but praise for Billary, Christopher and Mad Maddie. I likewise expect nothing but condemnation for Israel and the Bush administration. That's what lil Timmah does, dontcha know.
Nick Burns appears to be the "go to" guy for the hard work that is coming up. The fact that they are trotting him out tells me that they think that there is hard work yet to do, which means that, once again, the drive by media is totally misrepresenting the actual state of affairs. That means that Hezbollah is in real trouble, the Israelis are kicking butt and not bothering to take names and Iran is in deep kimshi. That, in turn, means Syria is toast.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I bet we won't know for at least a year.
Looking forward to good news from your visit while I continue to read through your interesting selections.
Thinking of you and waiting to hear how your visit went.
Really appreciate all your information. And here is another interesting one. Good 'ol Richardson is out there! The talking point is
....... NEW REALISM ......

What rodguy said. I have been an avid reader since I was able to read. I feel very deeply any threat to anyone's eyesight, and most particularly yours.
You have the best attitude! I fully understand that what would seem bad news to most seems okay to you. At least you were familiar with and well educated on your corneal issues and their treatments. Good luck with your interim treatments. We're all pulling for you.
AND, thanks for your weekly work on this thread, it helps me decide whether or not to sleep in on Sunday mornings ;)
Phsstpok - Thank goodness this is what you expected and not something much worse. As you mentioned, the surgery for cornea transplants is better now than years past, but having gone through this and variations so often must be a greater burden than you have let on.
Anyway, I do hope you'll consider seriously cutting back on your reading. I know this means cutting back on freeping and your analysis and participation in events you enjoy so much and are clearly so good at, but to save your eyesight until the time of surgery draws near, I think you should step back a little bit around here.
I'm keeping you in my daily prayers, Phsstpok and will check in with the thread later today to see what kind of malice the MSM plans for us tomorrow!
You are brave and have a good attitude which is half the battle. Your participation in FR and particularly this thread is priceless! God Bless
The Sunday Shows - Lineup
By: Mark Kilmer · Section: Other Politics
For Sunday, June 30, 2006Meet the Press (NBC): Host Tim Russert talks to the Israeli ambassador to the U.N., Dan Gillerman, then to the Lebanese special envoy, Nouhad Mahmoud. Dipolmats.
FOX News Sunday (FNS): Host Chris Wallace Undersecretary of State Nick Burns about the battle between Israel and Hezbollah, and Paul Bremer (remember him) about the new plans to rid Baghdad of terrorists.
Face the Nation (CBS): Host Bob Schieffer has a nice set of guests: Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora and Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Shimon Peres.
This Week (ABC): Host George Stephanopoulos is back with Burns, Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Daniel Ayalon, and eventually, Lance Armstrong.
Late Edition (CNN): Host Wolf Blitzer is in Jersusalem to chat with Burns, Syrian cabinet minister Bouthaina Shaaban (Minister of Expatriates); Senators Mitch McConnell and Chuckie Schumer, None of these guests will, to my knowledge, join him in Jerusalem.
-----Personally, I'd like to someone from Hezbollah appear and explain their policy of destroying what they call the "Zionist entity," for all to hear, but there's always a certain amount of cowardice all around. We'll hear from diplomats, not generals. They'll talk about it. You know, there is always a lot of that on these shows.

CNNs web site still does not list any guests, but the AP listing of Sunday Morning guests (available at the Arizona Star, for example) does include that lineup. That AP story also includes one additional name for Fox News Sunday, whom I assume is their "Power Player of the Week:
Praying that you will get good news...that all goes well, Phsstpok.

I should have read the whole thread before posting ...
You are a very brave man...I find your upbeat attitude under the consequences you find yourself, awe inspriring.
I have a tendency toward self pity...and I have no where near a reason to do so.
Phsstpok, I pray that you will not get back headaches and that you will get a new transplant soon...and it will be the LAST you will need.
God Bless you, Phsstpok

If you want on/off my prayer ping list, please let me know. All requests happily honored.
The fact that I have any eyesight today, and in fact quite good eyesight considering, is truly a miracle that I am thankfull for every day. It does get tiring some times, but when I think of the alternative it get's real easy to deal with.
I keep in mind a few comments I have heard over the years and use them to try to express where I'm coming from
"I'll have to get over this sooner or later. Why not now?"
"I cried because I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet."
I am blessed because I live today and live in this country and can get treatment for my eye condition. When I was first being treated for this 30 years ago there were something like a total of 10,000 people in the world diagnosed with this condition. Although corneal transplants were even then the most successful transplant operation it was still quite a big deal (at least to me). Today it is considered routine. In addition there are several hundred thousand, if not millions, of diagnosed cases of this condition now (I think it's related to wearing badly fitting contact lenses, but that's still unresolved). The availability of well researched treatments, up to and including very successful transplants, is truly amazing. 50 years ago I would simply have been blind.
I am further blessed by being a member of this community. Folks like yourselves are my strength and, again, I thank you.
