At least two or three people shoot.
SEATTLE – At least two people have been shot at the Jewish Federation at 2031 Third Ave. in downtown Seattle. One or two people have been taken into custody but it's not known if they are suspects.
One person was reportedly shot in the abdomen and another in the arm. They are being taken to Harborview Medical Center.
Part of Third Avenue and Second Avenue have been closed to traffic. Police are urging people to stay away from the area. It's not known if more suspects are at large but policemen were seen handcuffing one person and others were searching the area.
At least three people were seen emerging from the building, escorted by police. It's not know if they were hostages.
Medics, escorted by police, have been taking other people from the building.
More to come.
The only way to tell is to check out the perp's family and associates thoroughly. Hopefully that will be done objectively without any preordained conclusion.
I'm not impressed with Chertoff's general job performance at all, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that there are "standing orders" to classify every incident like this as a "hate crime" rather than terrorism. There are instances where it might be difficult to distinguish between the two. Let's just wait and see what develops here.
Go figure, seems to me that terrorism IS a hate crime anyway, blurry line?
In fact, also seems to me that most vocal Muzzies' ARE rooted on hate, so I guess we need to let the lawyers sort it out?

It is ironic that the anchors were more upset that he didn't have any furniture than that an innocent woman lost her life by murder.

I realize that there are some (e. g., Bill Clinton) who have committed crimes clearly defined in the law books and have not been touched by law enforcement.
I don't think that this case, though, will just be shoved under the rug. The perp will be indicted at the least on state charges of murder and aggravated assault. Not sure if Washington state has a "hate crime" statute; if so he might be charged with that as well. He could also be hit with federal charges, but I think that would depend on the outcome of the investigation of his background. (Perhaps some FReepers knowledgable on federal criminal law could comment on this.) These reports of bipolar disease could be the media's way of helping his defense lawyers already with their work. Good chance they'll go for an insanity defense. Whether it will work or not remains to be seen.

Hanford is a very large facility that abuts the Columbia River basin in Eastern Washington. Easily found on a map, near the "Tri Cities" of Richland, Pasco, and Kennewick.
It's the home of at least two active reactors (one for defense, one for civilian electricity), and, because of its Cold War history, is currently a SuperFund cleanup site. It gained that designation from fears of radioactivity reaching the Columbia River watershed.

Not necessarily by virtue of religion, no. However, anyone with a pulse can get hired there, if they don't mind blistering summers and miserable winters.
I see your point, but Hanford is such a large facility (federally administered, for what that's worth), a low-level disgruntled fanatic isn't likely to be able to carry out a catastrophe, at least not without quite a few bureaucratic foulups and a bit of inside help.
Well, I was raised a Christian and never taught to hate anyone but should always stand by my beliefs and never back down. ISLAM is pure hate and this I know. I don't care how watered down the media would like this to be, it's pure hatred for anyone not of that ideology and Christians don't behead men, women or kids. These bastards do! Screw Islam and everything they believe. These people must die and no quarter asked.
