President Bush addressed the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People -- after five years of invitations -- and blew it. He pandered, he condescended, all to show blacks that, yes, the president feels your pain...

He may or may not have been pandering. It's only brought up when he speaks to minorities. I wonder if it's because they're not white or because they're libs. Now I'll be really surprised when folks start crying pandering! when he addresses the usual conservative groups like NRA, pro-life,etc. Larry Elder ain't exactly white, you know. ;)
As for the folks here at FR, quite a few did accuse him of pandering last year during the Terry Schiavo case.

While its not the fault of Republicans, the GOP didn't really maintain the emphasis on civil rights that it had in the 1860's. By FDR's time, they had the stereotype of being rich and aloof.
