Hezbollah likened to movie Alien

ISRAEL'S Opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu today compared the Israeli-Hezbollah conflict in Lebanon to the Hollywood movie Alien.

The 1979 science-fiction thriller starring Sigourney Weaver depicted "alien ferocious bodies that plant themselves in a host and lurch out, burst through the chest, and attack the person next to the host and in doing so, kills the host", Mr Netanyahu told Canadian broadcaster CTV from Tel Aviv.

"Hezbollah is the alien body and Lebanon is the host," he said.

"And the mother alien, if you will, producing these poisoned eggs, is Iran, with its way station to Syria."

Israel would be the bystander struck by the alien monster, he implied.

"If we're going to have a future of peace and good neighbours, a future of tranquility, then this alien ... it's got to go," he said.

Actually, I heard this interview today and I disagree with him.

They are more like the "aliens" in Independance Day, the ones who moved from "planet to planet" sucking the life out of everything that got in their way because they had already screwed up THEIR "planet."

I'd suggest a comparison to the cockroaches in Joe's Apartment.

But the roaches display more humanity than the Hezbos.

I say we stand off and nuke them from orbit. It's the only way to be sure!

I think that line was from Aliens, (aka Alien 2).....

The first and second movies were good, Alien 3 SUCKED (IMO), and Alien Resurrection was fairly decent....

Can't say I saw the movie, but it seems a fair comparison.

You've never seen Alien? Go out and rent it now --preferably in widescreen. Watch it late at night with the lights turned out --preferably alone.

The film is 27 years old and still stands up as one of the most terrifying movies ever made.

I can think of another movie line that'll be appropriate if Israel doesn't finish what the Islamists started...

From John Hurt's cameo in Spaceballs...

Oh no, not again!

Yes, it was from Aliens. So was "Game over man!" a very funny Bill Paxton scene.

[The drop-ship crashes]
Private Hudson:Well that's great, that's just ****in' great man, now what the **** are we supposed to do? We're in some real pretty **** now man... That's it man, game over man, game over, man! Game over! What the **** are we gonna do now? What are we gonna do?

As well as one of the other best lines.

Private Hudson: Hey Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?

Private Vasquez: No, have you?

The first and second movies were good,

The sequal was pretty good. James Cameron did a great job making a big-budget sci-fi film. It was enjoyable, to be sure, but it didn't have the "terror" factor and uncomfortable sense of dread that Ridley Scott's first film did.

Alien was a horror film.

Aliens was a sci-fi film.

I've yet to see the last two.

You really should watch Alien. It's a fantastic movie. Top 25 of all time, for sure.

Aliens was a sci-fi film.

I'll correct myself here:

Aliens was an action film.

ONly a leader who hasn't had military experience would use a movie like Alien as a reference point in war propaganda.

Now, I'm not against Netanyahu, but there are problems inherent in using *fiction* as such to influence real world decisions. Not only does this perform it's intended effect of slightly dehumanizing Hezzies, it also dehumanizes the Israeli military personnel on the ground fighting them.

This type of article is one of the truly on the mark criticisms of Bibi's personality and leadership abilities.

On that, I'd have used Tribbles, the furry little bastards that are relatively harmless cute bundles of unshaven hair, except for their prolific reproduction.

Bibi is a genius... thats whats needed...
Something to relate this bizaar muslim story to..
Islam hides like its not a strange parasitic rite..
An unearthly hive of alien creatures.. appearing normal until a "stage" is reached.

it grants the jihadis too much dignity and design elegance, but otherwise it is a good comparison.

"Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than any other factor, and the contrary opinion is wishfull thinking at its worst. Breeds that forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and freedoms.

You do undertand that Starship Troopers was actually satire don't you?
