I am having an argument with a Palestinian friend of mine on the Israel/Hizzbullah situation and I am stuck and unable to prove that Hizzbullah fired rockets into Israel prior to Israel's incursion of Southern Lebanon. Can someone point me in the right direction on this one?

The United States and England killed Christians in WWII when they bombed cities in France during the Normandy invasion. They also killed Christians during the bombings of Dresden and Hamburg. It's called a war zone. And I don't think the Unites States and England were in league with the Muslims!

There's no way the Lebanese army would go after Hezbollah. Hezbollah has massive popular support in Lebanon, especially among the Shi'ia. About 40% of the Lebanese army IS Shi'ia. Not to mention that Hezbollah accounts for a sizable chunk of the government itself. All that precludes any Lebanese action against Hezbollah because in a sense, Hezbollah is Lebanon.

Right now, Israel has almost 1 million displaced citizens and an economy in ruins. We're not hearing much about that. Haifa is the only deep-water port in Israel, and it's shut down. Israel is in deep trouble. Too much for them to rely on the Lebanese government to take action.

Christians were shelling Christians in WWII. Germany was a (nominally) Christian country. Have the Christian Lebanese been shelling Israel?

The technology for targetting has immensely improved since WWII.. I have to ask again.. what is the bombing of Christian neighborhoods and TV stations gaining for the Israelis (and us) in the WOT?

To expand on this subject of who is shelling whom. It was Lebanese CIVILIANS, i.e. Hezbollah, who kidnapped uniformed Israeli soldiers. It is presently Lebanese CIVILIANS - Hezbollah, armed with high tech military weapons, who are dropping rockets on Israeli civilians, and who are engaged in direct combat with Israeli military forces. Those Syrian rockets filled with ball bearings are not directed to kill only Jews, they are directed "to whom this may concern," and they are deliberately being directed against non-military residential targets. These rockets may or not kill Jews, and they may or may not kill Muslims, Catholics, or Buddhists. The rockets don't care who they kill, and neither do the murdering nazi monsters in Hezbollah. As long as the Government of Lebanon and/or its military does nothing, it is either tacit approval, or it is an abdication of power. In either case, any conventional military attack by Israel against any target being utilized by Hezbollah is militarily justified.

Mmmmm, let me think on that one. Lebanon has been torn apart for over 25 years by muslim extremist groups fighting for power. Christian and muslim militias were fighting tooth and nail. Throw in the Syrians to help stir the pot and its quite a stew simmering in Lebanon.

Why don't you just tell you so called friend, "It's about dang time Israel went wide open on ya'll. They must be sick and tired of 30 years of getting bombed. They gave you your state and the first thing ya'll do is start launching rockets into Israel. You then elect a terrorist organization to represent you in goverment. For years the rest of the world has been giving you money, ya'll can't even build roads and schools and take care of yourselves, what ever money isn't stolen, it is used for bombs. Lebanon has allowed Hizbollah to live in their country and be elected to goverment. Even ole Nasarallah didn't expect the reaction. The middle east is a war zone. Remember the tourists in Egypt? They just wanted to have some fun and relax in the sun by the Red Sea. Nasty little muslim terrorists just had to come by and make them good little martyrs for the cause.

You're wasting your time.

You can prove who launched the rockets, you can prove even who over the years was unwilling to compromise, and you can even prove who it is that resorts to terrorism to try affect the policy makers.

In the end, all your friend will do is switch topics and grab BS that if need be goes as far back as Moses. No kidding.

After you prove that the Palestinians fired the rockets, that Israeli soldiers were kidnapped and murdered, he'll come back with a BS argument that it was Palestinian ground in the first place so it was no incursion on Israeli territory.

Seriously - any debate that attempts to be rational with them always ends up going in circles and going back to before your friend parents were even BORN.

Just get this into your head. The Palestinian sees himself as a victim. When they voted a terrorist group into power and the world shuts them out, they see themselves as victims. When they kill Israelis and blow up buses and Israel responds with targeted bombings of Hezbollah leaders, they see themselves as victims and even martyr those who committed these acts. You're dealing with a deranged mind. Forget it.

I have had a hard question posed to me when defending Israel once myself. I was asked how I would react if Aztlan suddenly declared itself a state and claimed the right to defend itself. The person that I was speaking with used the line that "it is their original homeland as well".
Any ideas on how to deflect that one?

The Lebanese parliament includes members of the Hezbollah party.
