Not guilty. Amen. If ever there were a case where someone was not guilty by reason of insanity, this was it. Justice, finally, for a very sick woman & her unfortunate children.

The truth is she is insane. She was on anti psychotic meds ever since her arrest and has been the mental ward of the state prison hospitals. She needs help.

"Unfortunate children" ???
That has to be the understatement of the century.

"Not guilty. Amen. If ever there were a case where someone was not guilty by reason of insanity, this was it."

I have to agree to this, though I know this will not be the majority view. I base my opinion on my personal experience of post partum depression. I suffered, tremendously, after the birth of my first son, a much wanted, loved, and desired child.

For almost one year, I could NOT function, think, or even care for my child properly. Many days were spent in tears, and depression so deep I could hardly raise my head some days. It made no sense to me, and for a long time I could not shake it. Very scary time.

SHE suffered depression MUCH more debilitating and extreme than mine. My experiece lets me understand HOW this formerly loving and attentive mother COULD have so lost touch with reality that these HORRIBLE crimes could have been committed by her.

I could be wrong, I just don't know. God will sort it out eventually. Our lifetimes are so brief in the overall scheme of things. If this verdict was unjust, He will have the final say.

She, hopefully, will be hospitalized for many, many years, and hopefully, for the rest of her life.

Zackly. She showed no signs of being anything but a loving mother before the incident happened. Obviously, something snapped and that's what insanity is.

A white-trash woman with a history of selling her kids, shooting drugs, stealing stuff, making jokes about murder, desperately wanting "the easy life," calling the kids a burden, or any combination of those factors would point to a different - and criminal - motive.

Andrea Yates was not like that, something very strange happened. Long history of mental problems, is that a clue? Only stupid people would not take that as a clue. Of course she will need to go to a mental hospital, probably forever. But jail isn't the right place for her. That is for people like Susan Smith. Andrea is a very different kind of case.

Murdered before your tenth birthday. Yeah, that is unfortunate, isn't.

What a despicable word choice.

Absolutely. No matter what kind of blood lust is going on in here, she was a sick woman and needs treatment. It's not like she's ever going to walk free, anyway.

I agree with you 100%...I was living in Houston when this all happened and it was heartbreaking to say the least. and Capt Useless (as someone earlier called him) should have been brought up on charges. He was repeatedly told she should have no more children after the 2nd or 3rd. the guy's a pig! He went off to work everyday, took as many TDYs as he could get, and made this woman home school these babies and never gave her any support or took any responsibility!

Amen to that.

The drug she was on pushed her into killing her children. I wish Rusty Yates would sue the big pharma company. These drugs are awful...lots of out of court settlements conditioned that NO one talks about these drugs making folks killers.

I'd like to see a new category "Guilty, but dangerously insane" with a mandatory death penalty just the same.

Oh no. She is just insane. Not a murderer. Just like good old John Hinckley. Just insane. Not a murderer. Just insane, like a loveable senile old auntie.

Insane. So was Gacy, Bundy, Richard Speck, Richard Ramirez. Everyone of them nuts as a toad. Oh yeah, they were men. Any killer can claim insanity anytime. Most of them have personality disorders that would qualify them for the same defense. Bleeding hearts are bleeding hearts, even on a conservative board.

You so called conservatives defending a woman's calculated mass murder of her own children make me sick. You excuse evil, just like liberals do. In fact, you should make sure Hillary or the next Democrat prez can have your names to appoint you to the bench. You guys sound just like Ruth Bader Ginzberg defending her own favorite criminal pets.
