America's Little Monster (*BARF ALERT United Church of Christ's take on Middle East)
UCC | recent | Dr. Britt Minshall

Posted on 07/26/2006 5:03:43 AM PDT by meandog

AMERICA’S LITTLE MONSTER

In 1990 a teen named Hugh became part of our Church youth group. Hugh’s parents formed a wall of protection around their son. When Hugh came into conflict with teachers, peers and other parents his mother and father came to the rescue, sparing Hugh from any accountability. As a consequence Hugh became Middletown’s little monster.
On June 30th, 1946 the word “terrorist” was coined announcing that British occupation troops in Palestine had arrested 2700 men responsible for kidnapping, killing, raping, and torturing British soldiers and Palestinian civilians. These terrorists were Zionists a movement dedicated to force the world into dividing Palestine allowing Jews from Europe and elsewhere to form their own homeland.
The Zionist won when the UN (U.S. and Europe) partitioned Palestine. Because the Palestinian people had lived on this land for thousands of years opposition was expected. So Israel trumped their card forcing over 360,000 farm families off their land deporting them to Syria, Jordan and Gaza replacing them with Israelis. Syrians (80,000) were forced from their homes “inside Syria” and 700 unarmed civilians were massacred in one refugee camp.
Since 1946 the U.S. has given $140,000,000 and intervened on Israel’s part every time the UN has tried to stop Israel from committing atrocities through out the world (162 resolutions). Helpless against this “immune from accountability upstart,” other Muslim peoples began to confront this monster and its parent by using the same tactics invented by Israel thus we have 911, Afghanistan, Iraq and now the invasion of Lebanon. Action and reaction, killing begets killing and it will never end until the biggest nation on earth allows its monster to grow up and become accountable as are the other nations. So why don’t we?
1. Israel was not founded because of the holocaust. Its purpose was to drive a wedge through the middle of the Muslim world because the west foresaw the rise in the importance of Middle East oil and wanted the Arab world split geographically (remember Iraq).
2. The U.S. has two Israeli lobbies (AIPAC and CPMJO) that give millions and label any dissenting politician as anti-Semite who condones fairness in dealing with Israel. [SIDEBAR: 36% of American Jews have no emotional attachment to Israel and a majority feels our over support of the country is not helpful].
3. The Christian right is 100% hawkish for Israel, not out of justice concerns, but their theology calls for a massive war and the killing off of Palestinians so Jesus can return (actually the Son of God may return any time He wants and God loves the Palestinians as much as the Israelis), and no there is NOT a connection between ancient Israel and the modern nation.
And so as Lebanon burns the monster grows and grows just like Hugh who eventually killed someone and is in prison for life. I pray we reign in our monster, before it wreaks the world for God’s Sake.

Wow this guy is so full of hate and lies, I am compelled to write the author and set him straight especially on his contention that the Christian Right wants to kill Palestinians. I hope many other freepers flood him with email also.

The athor must be a child. He think $140 million is a significant figure. We probably spend more than that on federal thumbtack research.

(I'm betting that it is $140 Billion, but the editorial gaffe just further reflects on the author.)

The church of christ allows all kinds of abortion, all kinds of marriage, all kinds of ordination, any behavior at all, virtually.

Hardly a church patterned after Jesus Christ. They are part of those groups that supposedly "reconstructed" Christianity back in the 1800's when they "discovered" that it had ceased somewhere prior to that in history.

A UCC minister who serves a primarily gay and lesbian congregation tried to open a "group home" for teenage girls across the street from us. This place was nothing more than a warehouse through which they collected gummint money ($350 per girl per night)and caused all kinds of disruption in the neighborhood. They're gone now, thank God, but they have moved elsewhere in the area, and they're still collecting their money.

Wondering who this guy was, I visited his site. He's an author. At first read I thought he was selling a tour rather than a book.

Ring Of Angels

A Novel by Dr. Britt Minshall

Travel with Britt to the mysterious island of Haiti. Meet with others at a brothel of teenage girls, gather each evening on the hotel dining porch, overlooking an ancient jungle garden, as each group's daily saga is revealed. We traveled with these sojourners each day to mountain villages, remote forest orphanages and to clandestine meetings seeking to destroy a nation.

While not a religious work, God is very present as even the most religious fall to this mysterious land in lusting encounters with deep erotica, with seething violence in the raw.

Who Am I and What Am I Up to?

I am, in police language a WMA (White – Male – American), sixty years of age, most people take me for forty-eight (better that than eighty-two). I am divorced and the father of four grown children, three grand children and a great-grand child.

My first career, spanning sixteen years, was in Law Enforcement, ending as a Security Agency Operator (GASA - NJ State Police number 1279). During that period I served as an advisor for President Carter on the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, as a Deputy U.S. Marshall and as an Agent for INTERPOL, the International Police Agency.

Throughout my younger years I was an avowed atheist. Ignorant of the fact that people misuse religion, I blamed God for the plight of African Americans. I was a freedom rider and civil rights demonstrator. On March 11, 1975 I became a Christian. In an effort to change the way the world works I began my trek to Ordained Ministry, figuring “If the church has the power to foul the world it has the power to fix the world.”

My first degree, an Associate of Divinity, came from Southeastern Baptist Seminary. A Bachelor of Arts followed from the University of North Florida, a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Emory University and my Doctorate in Socio-Psychology (Group Dynamics and Inter-Personal Relations) was earned in 1992 from Boston University. Talk about blessed, when I “got out” of H.S. (1962) I couldn’t even read.

The research for my doctoral dissertation became the foundation for my first book Renaissance or Ruin, The Final Saga of a Once Great Church, 1994, Renaissance Institute Press, ISBN 0-9642773-0-1, © LOC 94-68169. Today it is considered the premier work on power in the church and a reference in the study of congregational dynamics. Clergy have purchased most of the 6,000 copies sold.

Author Britt Minshall

For the last seven years I have served as Senior Pastor of the Cathedral Church of Saint Matthew, a United Church of Christ. I have been a speaker at many National Church events including the 2002 Congress of Urban Churches in Chicago. Guest appearances on television, usually as consultant on how religious communities operate but occasionally on political matters involving the church are a regular part of my life.

At St. Matthews I have lead the church from an all white congregation of 60 or so, all in their mid-eighty’s, to over 200 people, at least half African American and a healthy mix of the rest. We are a social justice church with an active ministry with formerly addicted men and an on going ministry to prostituted women along the Harford Road –BelAir Road corridor. We have an active presence with orphanages and schools in Haiti, to where I travel at least three times per year. I take groups of people with me from all over the country.

Ring of Angels is written to expose the pernicious effects of American foreign policy on the people I live and work with in country. I expose the propaganda slogan “in the interest of the American people” for what it really is: a deadly lie that destroys lives all over the earth and degrades the greatest nation on earth to the level of a flesh peddler

No the Church of Christ doesn't allow abortion, gay marriage, etc....That is the UNITED Church of Christ you are speaking of. There is a difference. I am a christian and am a member of the Church of Christ. It is a conservative group that follows the bible and Jesus' teachings and examples. Unfortunately people confuse the two because of the name.

Did you mean to say "warehouse" or some other "house" that begins with the letter "W"?

I know there are some conservative churches of christ, but they all come from that same reconstruction stuff from the 1800s. The disciples of christ come from the same time, also, if my memory serves correctly.

Churches that follow God's Annointed One (Messiah/Christ) will be true to scripture. They will have a strong regard for Christians of past eras. They will teach the true good news that "Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures."

Those called out ones of God's Messiah will not be defeated and need "reconstructing." "The gates of hell shall not prevail against them."
