UN Secretary General Kofi Annan today said he was "shocked" at Israel's "apparently deliberate targeting" of a UN post in Lebanon, in which up to four UN observers were killed.
Mr Annan described the strike as a "co-ordinated artillery and aerial attack on a long established and clearly marked UN post."
He said it took place "despite personal assurances given to me by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert that UN positions would be spared Israeli fire."
"Furthermore, General Alain Pelligrini, the UN Force Commander in south Lebanon, had been in repeated contact with Israeli officers throughout the day on Tuesday, stressing the need to protect that particular UN position from attack.
"I call on the Government of Israel to conduct a full investigation into this very disturbing incident and demand that any further attack on UN positions and personnel must stop.
"The names and nationalities of those killed are being withheld pending notification of their families. I extend sincere condolences to the families of our fallen peacekeepers."
The UN is an unindicted coconspirator (do not take this to mean that I believe that the Indian/UN soldiers should have been killed). Kofi can kiss my *ss in Macy's window.
kofi, we'll get back to you about the time you get help down to Darfur. by the way, kofi, you should be sued for not yanking the troops out of that "observation post" due to hostilities in the area.
Sadly, Kofi, Hezbollah's arsenal is being stored in apartment houses filled with innocent families. The only way to clean Hezbollah out, is to also kill those families. Diabolic maneuver on Hezbollah's part. Diabolic and effective, unless those families are warned ahead of time to evacuate the buildings before attack.
What are UN 'peacekeepers' doing in Lebanon if they are not keeping the peace?
Will it be discovered that the UN HQ was being used as a communications center for Hezbollah?
And will the evidence then be suppressed by the UN?
Kofi, if your terrorist sympathizing U.N. had enforced the resolutions it passed years ago as it should have this war would probably not even be happening. There's plenty of blood on your hands!
This is totally off topic, but I was watching the Today show this morning and they were doing a dance segment on the tango. They had the UN dance instructor on as a tango expert. WTH? No questions as to why on earth the UN would need a dance instructor on its payroll.
CNN won't shut up about this now. They have a new talking point against Israel.
Go tell it to your son, Annan. You know, the one who got rich on your coattails stealing money meant for food for the starving.
Same place as your ill-gotten millions.
Hypocritical clown.
INCOMING.
Another good thread.
This could get interesting.
On the other thread, it was posted that the UN post that was taken out, was an observation tower leading into the Bekaa Valley.
Raping young women and watching the rockets fly by?
Apparently the media, the Democrats, the academics and all the other leftist lunatic don't want to recognize that Hezbollah, Hamas and al Qaeda are all the same thing: terrorists who would love to repeat 9/11/01 all over again. Israel is doing the right thing by killing Hezbollahs/terrorists, and we should be helping them.
The UN is as much an enemy to Israel as Jizzbollah is. There's nothing unusual about shelling the enemy's observation posts during a time of war.
Jack Murtha probably told him it was.
Good luck! It only points out the ineffectiveness, if not collusion, of the UN in Hezbollah's current offensives.
Koofi should thank his lucky stars that the IAF can't reach New York.
The he!! with Annan. Get us out of the useless UN and kick it out of our Country.""
Would that this little skirmish of activity spells the end of the UN, and that we can get something done in the world without their interference and permanent skimming of funds meant for other purposes.
STFU Koffi.. just STFU
Kofi, slackers will be removed by force. Move along little boy and watch real warriors fight!
