US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice salutes a US Marine as she walks towards a helicopter upon her departure from Beirut after meeting with Lebanese officials.
Just as much as last time...maybe more. It's a practice well-established in Democracies, which as a rule do not support wars or actions designed to prevent another power from becoming strong enough to do serious damage in the future. There must be a certain romance in waiting until you are the underdog before you fight...I must say the romance is lost on me.
The same tactics they've used ever since the early 70s when Fatah (PLO) was ousted from Jordan and settled in southern Lebanon.
After the Israeli invasion 1982 when Israel found masses of weapons, and lots of evidence of massacres of local Christians by the PLO and assorted Muslim friends, some journalists explained that they had known that all along but they couldn't publish it because they or their co-workers were threatened.
Same thing in Iraq before the war.
Bloody scumbags! - and I mean both the terrorists and their enablers in the MSM.
Interesting. This island Khark. Is it near the Strait of Hormuz?
It wasn't a bunker buster but it sure was a big explosion.
Anything useful blown up good?
How can you tell it wasn't a bunker buster? (I'm ignorant on this stuff!)
Thanks!
The reporter speculated that it was either a 1000 or 2000 pound bomb, dropped by an F16
A lot of Freepers don't get too involved in "live threads"...or anything to do with immigration or conflicts between religions, etc..
"Whatever"....as sinkspur once said.
Sanctions through UN difficult...couple of thousand pounders through USN doable
If it was a bunker buster at least two blocks of Beirut would be gone.
"CNN must be French .. cause they gave in pretty fast with their tour"
You're referring to CNN's "deal" with Saddam that they didn't bother to report until after his fall? I don't watch CNN, so don't know if they've reported the same kind of intimidation tactics by Hezbolla.
If you stay with Fox, pay particular attention to Tobin and Palkot reports.
What are Freepers like Sabramerican like?
Not, true. It wasn't a flame war.
It was a debate on an issue with facts provided (and subsequent statements by British officials recently proves again). If anyone got personal during the debate it was ONLY Madivan who refused to argue the facts and decided to leave.
Flame wars involve hurling insults at the participants.Only one person insulted anyone else. Read for yourself.
RE: #284...Good advice.
It is north west of Bushehr.

Hey Hamas! Olmert says "Bite Me!"
...um....sanctions proposed...that don't pass thru the UNSC...led to Saddam in a spider hole, and sons of Saddam in other holes...just a little FYI...no need to succeed, big need to at least try...
;-)
