The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps calls itself a "project of the Declaration Alliance," although few MCDC volunteers know what the alliance does or why Minuteman donations are routed through the charity founded and headed by conservative activist Alan Keyes.
Several Minuteman leaders and members questioned the wisdom of ceding control over fundraising to the Herndon-based Declaration Alliance, part of an intricate weave of conservative organizations founded and chaired by Mr. Keyes or tied to longtime Keyes associates working with MCDC.
MCDC President Chris Simcox told The Washington Times that the alliance offers "an experienced organization for mass mailings, advertising and public relations" and the ability to conduct a "fully accredited and independent audit" of MCDC finances.
Mr. Simcox said he "checked these people out very carefully before agreeing to work with them" and that he made the "correct decision" in hiring "clean professional consultants, accountants and media professionals." He did not, however, disclose during an interview last week or in a 3,961-word follow-up statement how much Declaration Alliance and its affiliated organizations have been paid for their services
During the interview, he said, "Not one cent of MCDC money has been spent on alliance projects." The statement, released on the MCDC Web page, www.minutemanhq.com/hq/, does not mention Declaration Alliance or Mr. Keyes. ...."
"..Diener Consultants first contacted the Minuteman organization in early 2005, said Ms. Hair, the MCDC spokeswoman who also was a top adviser to Mr. Keyes in his presidential and senatorial races. She said she called Mr. Simcox after the Minuteman group was created to ask whether he had a media plan. After being told no, she said, she met with Mr. Simcox and Minuteman co-founder James Gilchrist in Washington and signed an agreement...."

Hey, how are you guys?
Why does it suprise you Spiff? None of the people jumping on the "Let's Get Simcox" bandwagon are conservatives. They don't act like conservatives, they don't post like conservatives, they don't espouse conservative values, and they seem to rip anyone who does.
Now if it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, violates the forum rules like a duck, then in all probability it is a duck.
So once and for all just realize that the people who are attacking the MM are liberals. Just look where they get their information. It's a laundry list of the usual suspects from the legacy drive by media right on down to Morris Dees, the ACLU, and MoveOn.org.
They haven't a shred of evidence of criminal activity, just some inexplicable personal animus against this Ms. Hair person and Chris Simcox.
It would be extremely interesting if one of the attorneys in the employ or Mr. Simcox were to take advantage of some recent Court rulings regarding slander and libel posted by people who think they're anonymous on the internet.
It's also interesting that even the founder of this forum who supports Tom Tancredo never seems to get any crap tossed his way. My guess is that this is due to a distinct lack of testicular function on the part of some of these posters. I mean they feel free to respond negatively to our postings of support for Congressman Tancredo but they never seem to do the same when our benevolent sponsor does so.
Why do you suppose that would be, Spiff?

Doing fine, thanks.
Popcorn?
My gosh you are right. There is also a link to Salon. Wow!
Yes, please.. Light on the salt...
They DO sound like great conservative goals, until you look at their FEC reports and find that they only reported spending 5% of the money they took in for those goals.
The other 95% goes for fundraising.
Real effective, dontcha think?
Source?
Thanks for the ping. It's beginning to look like old home week.
If failing to keep one's word, slavery reparations, grifting, dissembling and lying are now conservative values, count me out. I don't want to be one of those kinds of conservatives. I guess y'all like Duke Cunningham a lot, though.
My guess is that this is due to a distinct lack of testicular function on the part of some of these posters.
I'm not ashamed to say that I've been totally devoid of testicular function for my entire life.
I suspect that some of you "tough guy" posters have as well. Maybe that's why you need all the threats & name-calling you use.
If Simcox is guilty of anything (and at this point there's nothing indicating he's guilty of anything other than the poor judgment of a novice) then I could care less if he's rode out on a rail. He and Keyes both.
I could care less about the fortunes of any individual insofar as it doesn't reflect poorly on the cause they stand for, which IMO in this case is critical.
Its not as if the certain freepers who have glommed onto this guy's problems with such relish are coming to this issue without an agenda of their own. Most have been on the open borders side for as far back as I can remember & have lost all credibility where the subject is concerned, and its clear they really think they've scored big here. Which reflects poorly on their sense of proportion & common sense, but given the way they've approached the whole borders issue thats no surprise either.
By the way, Mr. Tough Guy, if you ask the lawyers, they'll tell you it's not slander if it's written, and it's not libel if it's true.
Mike Reagan is talking to Steve Eichler from Minutemen Project, not Simcox' group explaining the difference..

Mike Reagan is talking about this now, with Steve Eichler from Jim Gilchrist's group--The Minutemen Project...over at Reagan.Com
I don't know that he's broken any laws, but I think he has broken the trust of some of his followers.
Plenty of tools at FR to pimp for "wall" money, too.
Twin Sons of Different Mothers
Which will not matter a single iota to the majority of Americans who are concerned with the cause of border integrity.
Which happens to be the most basic principle that people like these operate under, and how they KNOW the money will come.
That's what Jim and Tammy Faye thought too.
