IMO what saves both us and Israel now is that Putin and Hu cannot trust the Islamofacists not to turn on Russia and China. Both Russian and Chinese leadership would relish our destruction is only they could insulate themselves -- no real difference from the cold war except Islam is the wild card.
Point of taking God's name in vain:
When you swear an oath, such as "So help me God". You better hold that oath or die trying or the wedding oath. That is why adultery is a sin. A person married in the Church or in a church swears an oath before God and man.
Disproportionate is the only rational response.
If a guy pulls a knife, you pull a gun. This discourages the next knife attack.
A proportionate response on the other hand allows your enemy to anticipate the risk involved in any attack. Hizb'allah for example could attack Israel and then go to ground until the UN calls off Israel.
Have you heard what the Palis did to that poor Israeli soldier that was killed in the West Bank?
Also, I wouldn't presume, necessarily, that just because there's a larger yield that radioactive fallout would worsen at the same rate. Quite a bit of what the national labs have done is to make "clean" bombs to minimize that effect.
Oh, boy and that was a baby crib at the foot of the stairs, appeared the man was carrying the baby outside and the woman was just standing there... if you saw Mike Tobin he showed that these bombs also contain buckshot and the buckshot was doing a lot of damage to buildings that are not hit directly by the bombs and these bombs are Syrian bombs.
When so many of the libs start agreeing with W and conservatives, that tells me how bad it really is.
I'm curious as to whom you were addressing yesterday when you did the posting police thing (I never pay attention to posting police; somebody brought it to my attention) and told those people who are "in country" not to divulge "military movements."
I ask because I'm curious as to how many people who are "in country" were on the thread then.
Oaths aren't even supposed to be taken. "let your yes be yes, and your no be no."
I dropped a full paintbrush on my foot yesterday. Good thing there wasn't an open mic in the vicinity. The President's remark is quite tame by comparison.
I remember when they were airing a video of the President giving someone the finger while preparing for an interview (they had been fooling around and he had a little grin on his face). The media I guess thought we were all going to desert him in droves. It did not happen.
Can anybody post the transcript of Olmert's speech
We saw our first allied warship today from the roof of the hotel. One of the staff said it was British; I guess the Arab TV stations were reporting on it but I can't understand Arabic. One of the stations in in full jingoist cheerleader mode, playing patriotic music while showing Arab soldiers advancing victoriously. Many locals fired shots into the air celebrating the shoot-down of the leaflet balloon. The IAF drops leaflets about 12 hour before they bomb an area; I've seen a couple of them dropped too close for comfort, where the IAF took out some radar sites in central Beirut. I went to one of the grocery stores today for more provisions; the produce is almost picked clean and prices have doubled since last week (they understand supply and demand!). I'm hoping this is my last night here. Civil war is just around the corner; the Lebanese Army is going to split apart along factional lines and I DON'T want to be here for that.
Thanks for sharing that account from your friend. Here's what Fox's web site is saying:
"At least six people were injured, including one seriously, when Hezbollah rockets caused a building to partially collapse in Haifa, Israel's third-largest city.
Initially, medics feared other people could be trapped beneath the rubble. Holes were blown in the building's two top stories, and the inside was singed black by the rocket's blast."
From what I hear Howard Dean opened his mouth again and started playing politics with this crisis.
GOOD NEWS!
