Hi, sofaman. There is some confusion because the State Department is asking people in Lebanon to stay put as it's too dangerous to move about. But I think a rescue mission is still being planned and will take place beyond the eyes of the media.
If you think about it, with the modern weapons that Hezbollah/Lebanon has used, we probably dont have the assets to get the people out safely. You dont want to see a US ship on fire with all those evacuees on board.
Oh sorry about that Peach, Rebel_yell2 has posted again. The last time I checked he had not posted since earlier this a.m..
'Just wait until she catches their new hemorrhoid commercial...'
hope they don't show them applying it directly to the...
I dread tomorrow, with congress back in DC. There has already been toooooo much Bush bashing.
No problem.
This rescue mission, when it gets underway, is going to be a nail biter. The danger to our Marines is substantial.
Who in their right mind goes to Beirut to "go to the beach" when there are rockets and bombs all over the place. There are perfectly nice beaches anywhere else that would be far safer for sunbathing or swimming.
RE Chirac: see my post #1153.
His usual modus operandi when he does not get what he wants during the negotiations.
Somehow I missed putting Lebanon at the top of my vacation hot spots wish list.
Because I wouldn't put it past the NYT to put on their web site that our Marines will be landing on the roof of such and such a hotel at a certain time.
Thats what I say as well af_vet_1981. Israel has already stated that they were not aware of the rocket capabilities the Hizbullah monsters possessed. Wipe their assets out and talk about it later.

trying to figure out how to pull thousands out of Lebanon...can't be easy..
Too fond of the beaches in Somalia and the sand duens in Sudan are you?
:)
(Sorry for the levity, but all these horrible events are getting to me.)
You're thinking is just fine. Actually, it will be extremely difficult to keep the media from interviewing Americans holed up in hotels and getting any rescue information out of them.
I pray the State Dept. is telling people not to talk to anyone they don't know and including the media.
