U.S. Christian organizations back Lebanon operation
Haaretz ^ | 7-15-06 | Daphna Berman

Jewish and pro-Israel Christian groups in both Israel and the United States voiced a chorus of support for the Israel Defense Forces' actions yesterday, the second day of fighting on the northern border.

"This was certainly an unprovoked attack and Israel has every right to go in and pound them," said Ray Sanders, executive director of Christian Friends of Israel. "It needs to be made very clear that what they [Hezbollah] have done is an act of injustice and Israel has every right to defend herself."

According to an NBC report, Lebanese Christians in Beirut support the Israeli incursion. Nobody wants Hizbollah. Not Israel, the U.S., nor apparently the Arabs themselves. Only the French and Russians seem upset with this operation. What a shock.

Sure would be nice to have the vocal support from a majority of US Jews.

What makes you think American Jews don't support this war?

Mamzelle might be referring to the disgusting anti-Catholic attacks on these boards in recent days.

Of course, the mainline protestant churches are silent regarding these unprovoked attacks against Israel. Not surprising, considering their past fawning over Hezbollah and Hamas terrorists.

Lest anyone forget PCUSA’s ACSWP is best known for the international flare up from its visit with Hezbollah terrorist leaders in October 2004. The ACSWP spokesman made this inflammatory remark at the Hezbollah meeting: “I'd like to say that, according to my recent experience, relations and conversations with Islamic leaders are a lot easier than dealings and dialogue with Jewish leaders." The estimated annual budget for ACSWP is $250,000.

PCUSA Missionary, Nuhad Tomeh, is assigned to the Middle East Council of Churches. He is known as the “Ambassador to Hezbollah”. He is on the Board of Pro-Palestine organizations (Middle East Fellowship and Evangelicals for Middle East Understanding). We estimate his annual salary and benefit package is $75,000.

Sorry but my church backs Israel, and our pastor is vocal about it during services. The Church of God is not a giant organization, but is not a small one either.

Let us not forget the Vatican is already screaming for Israel to stop; as expected.

And that the real issue. The Terrorists fawn all over these self important busybodies and they eat it up. The Israelis do not so of course they hate supposed moral authorities come to hate the victims and love the murderers.

Oh, I guess listening to the leftist/secular/liberal left for the past several years, reading David Horowitz as he tries to make a dent in the wall of anti-Israelism. The fact that he tries so hard with so much opposition from the academic pro-pali left when the alliance between liberal and conservative Jew should be natural...Conservatives/Israel-supporting US Jews and the occasional Lieberman don't represent the majority.

The left is pro-pali and anti-Israel and anti-conservative Christian. 76% of American Jewry voted for the leftist presidential candidate in 2004. Would any Kerry-ite speak for Israel's right of self-defense? I don't think so.

And I'd go farther and suggest that among most Jews a passionate defense of Israel is a breach of social decorum--liable to get you called a "Zionist" allied with those icky fundies. An embarrassed indifference at best, a distasteful contempt at worst.

I do see this as a tire hitting the pavement, a "which side are you on?" moment. It might even be an opportunity.

I will agree that the Jews with the big megaphones, the Spielbergs, etc., are always silent at times like this. But Jewish organizations like Jewish Republican Coalition ARE speaking up, organzing rallies, etc. I also know that the great majority of Jews support the war against Islamoterrorism. Lefties have big mouths though.

While I am very, very, very Pro-Israel, I must say that the American Jews are very liberal; and they vote for the DemocRATS in high percentages.

Can anyone tell me why? Perhaps it is their disdain for the fact that there are many committed Christians in the GOP, and while I am pro-Israel, many Jews are vehemently anti-Christian. I dunno.

Not most. But some. So I won't be invited to Streisand's compound in Malibu anytime soon. :)

Please allow me to make a correction: "Many" not all, American Jews are liberal.

A misconception that the Democrats are more "compassionate." The Tikkun Olam foolishness.

Many Jews are vehemently anti-Christian.

I have never seen that. It wasn't part of the Jewish world I grew up in.

Nope--I'm of the opinion that we may well have seen the last pro-Israel president.

I don't think that conservative Christianity in the US can go very far to support Israel when the secular left is so contemptuous of Israel, and that there is so little support for Israel among the majority of US Jews.

I watch what goes on in "intellectual" Europe, the knee-jerk condemnation of Israel's efforts at self-defense, the message of "Drop Dead, Israel" that comes from the Democratic party. And who is in the Democratic party?

I'm saying that most American Jews have turned their faces away from Jerusalem.

Some of the most disgusting liberals, progressives, and other leftist trash are Jews, in name only. Then again in my FReepin' career some of the most stand up Conservatives I know are also Jews, strange.

Much of these die hard Jewish people, my parents being an example of such, have these views mostly out of a combination of the reverence for FDR as the man who stopped Hitler. They remember that many of those who opposed FDR were Republicans, whether they were a majority or not does not matter. Their fears were further reinforced by some who were the most boisterous supporters of the Republicans in the 50's and early 60's. Such people as the John Birch Society, Pat Buchanan types, Robert Novak types and other paleo-conservatives who gave an appearance of being anti-Jewish. Such takes time to overcome and many older Jews will never see past this. Fortunately, many Jews are seeing the light and waking up to the new truth that the conservatives are the Jews' best friends. JPFO to see these Jewish conservatives. Further, many of the second generation Jews who are more removed from the 30's, 40's and 50's are looking at things today more critically and are supporting the conservatives who support Israel and the true Jewish beliefs on matters such as life, self efence, individual rights, religous freedon and other issues. Hang in there, many of my Jewish bretheren are comiong around, myself being one of them to the horror of my parents who still refuse to see the new truth.

Most of the Jews I know vote liberal, but talk conservative. Never could figure that out. And I haven't met or heard of any who are "vehemently" anti-Christian. Perhaps youre confusing Jews with Moslems?

It could be that many Christians, other than the 'prophecy' types, support Israel's war against Hez and Hamas plus the handlers, Syria and Iran, because they know right from wrong and good from evil. Too many so called intellectuals, Third Worlders, and Leftists don't have the foggiest understanding about good and evil and believe in Moral Equivalence. Christians should not and do not. In this case, these Islamofascists of all stripes in the ME are pure evil and Israel is doing the world's work as well as (the Lord's work).
