Developing . . .
its very dicey - once US forces are seen to be fighting side by side with the Israelis, the entire arab world is going to go nuts.
unless/until it gets to the point where it spreads to include negative effects on US interests in the region, I don't think anything like that happens.
of course, if Iran starts firing WMD equipped weapons into israel (which I am sure some DOE/CIA report someplace says they cannot possibly have!), or uses their syrian/hezzbollah proxies to do so - then all bets are off.
USA Today has weaponry? Does the NYT, Wash. ComPost?
sorry, I shouldn't impulse post...
Bingo.
Israeli warplanes dropping thousands of leaflets instructing civilians to take shelter, they do not want to harm anyone but Hizbollah...
Agreed. I've been grateful for it for the last few hours.
I would bet that the US would not get involved militarily unless Israel really needed the support.
I would think the best bet for the US is to just step out of the way and let Israel do whatever is necesary.
The US can also assist by using its veto power when needed at the UN.
I hadn't heard that.
Yesterday there was a thread that in northern (?) Israel, citizens were instructed to take shelter in bomb shelters.
I knew it would get bad, as did anyone who read that.
I think that sounds right. It would have to escalate to a much wider war before we'd give open military support.
Meanwhile, in Washington, the senate still believes there is no need for more offshore drilling, or additional exploration of Anwar.
Let me clarify- those leaflets are being dropped in Palestinian areas and Beruit..
Ping
Dennis Prager was just talking about how he isn't so much worried about Israel and America doing the right thing..
But, he says he worries about Western Europe...he says that forever, look at the past 2 WWs...they put their heads in the sand...and do NOT do what it takes to protect themselves...and they are doing it now...and have been for a long time, with the Muslim problem.
FNC: Beirut television is off the air.
Also, and this is a direct quote from FNC:
Reports, denied from Iran, that two kidnapped Israeli soldiers were being brought to Iran.
Beirut television is off the air. Fuel tanks at Beirut airport on fire...just watching FNC.
All you have to do is listen to Shep Smith and Bill O'Reilly...that is all they talk about anymore...sheesh.
Dang...Israel hit some fuel tanks at Beirut Airport..and it is a HUGH fire.
Oh, thanks.
Breaking: Icicles forming in hell.
...or the dreaded Dome of the Rock is mysteriously blowed up real good by some *errant* bomb. "Not ours." "Not ours, either." say everyone. Yet, there is lays. A smoldering ruin.
No mention of the Hezbullah leader's possible demise on the Israeli news sites (JPost, Haaretz, Arutzsheva). However, the Israeli's have attacked southern Beirut where Hezbollah's HQ is placed.
Also worth noting, Hezbollah denied firing rockets at Haifa. Of course nobody believes a word they are saying, but it was speculated that it may mean that their leaders no longer have full command of their forces in southern Lebanon.
Hmmm....... Could this be an indication that some Israeli bombs have hit the bull's eye?
Peach...we know what you meant.
