Of course we should get involved; Israel is one of our best allies.

But God does not and cannot positively will evil.

Depends on your definition of the word 'evil'...

God's going to dump a lot of people into the Lake of Fire...Is that evil???

In the Old Testament, God was instrumental in helping His people kill a lot of women and children...Is that evil???

Deu 28:7 The Lord shall cause thy enemies, that rise up against thee, to fall down before thy face: one way shall they come out against thee, and seven ways shall they flee before thee.

I'd say God does whatever He wants to do...

"Afraid of Isreal? Whatever gave you that idea?"

Disgusting looking man that Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah,
I think IRAN tried to "internationalize the conflict".
When I see these folks with turbans on their heads, I think of the women with covered faces and backward living.
Impulse thinking is DISGUST. Happy that Israel refuses to be blackmailed!!

hey prefer to hole up in defensive positions, or at least they should. We could blow them out but they will rightly surmise that we wouldn't want to suffer the losses required.

This is the early twenty first century, not the mid twentieth. our casualties would not be any higher than when we went into Iraq. Even in the mid twentieth century, an assault on a city without air superiority didn't produce much friendly casualties if you didn't care whether it remained intact.

I thought we could use a little good news today, especially with North Korea acting up.

I introduce you to the Incarnation.

It obviously does not follow that God has to control everything for everything to serve His purpose. To make that logical connection is to simply assume the tautology of control=purpose, and then beg the question.

The Christian God, unlike all other conceptions of God in history, including the Aristotelian one you are now struggling with, accomplishes his end by love, which precludes control, AND by power, which does not. So sovereignty, in the Christian universe, is not SIMPLY an issue of the silly calculus of free-will versus His action.

All we need is one instance to prove the concept...In the Garden, He 1. indisputably voluntarily gave up control, which 2. indisputably went badly, which 3. indisputably served His purpose.

Extrapolate at will.

I would like to ask all freepers that are on this thread whether they think America should get involved in this Israel v. Lebanon/Syria/possibly Iran war...if necessary.

Yes. Israel is our ally. They deserve our assistance and protection. We're not France.

You can also self-ping, like I'm doing right now, and delete the other FReeper's name from the "To" section. This also insures the comment will appear highlighted in "New Posts to You."

While Iran's nuclear program grabs headlines around the world, a new Reader's Digest-Zogby International survey reports that Iranians (41%) said reforming their national economy so it operates more efficiently is more important than nuclear capability. A smaller number, 27%, said the country's top priority should be to develop an arsenal of nuclear weapons, and 23% said the top goal for their government should be to expand the freedoms of its citizens.

And he is free to violate our free will at his leisure.

But He doesn't. God is free to commit sin, too, but He doesn't.

I'm sorry, Marlowe, but your view of God as some kind of master manipulator or Supreme office manager is a distortion of His love.

He doesn't love us if we have no say in what happens to us or in our choices.

That was two questions.

1. Very odd assumption there. Lots of people don't sleep well at night because they are being, let's say, tortured. God is not in control of the torturer.

2. I pray for everything, because He needs invited.

I'm not confident that secrecy could be maintained with them using our aircraft carriers...but stranger things have happened.

Israeli aircraft are not suited to operations on an aircraft carrier. It's unlikely that they could be modified for it either, not in the time they have.

WITHOUT warning, Israelis find themselves on the brink of a two-front war that will hit the country's heartland more than any since their War of Independence in 1948. In both Gaza and Lebanon, events have escalated beyond the usual exchange of jabs with Hamas and Hezbollah to the forecourt of a major confrontation.

What an idiotic position. If you want to criticize...criticize the news services that put this information out - not a poster who relays the news.

Equally believable. How funny that they had the Fox guy, Mike Tobin I think, standing right near where the darn thing hit.

Hey, I've got a question for you. Could Jesus microwave a burrito so hot that He himself could not eat it?

Maybe you ought to ask Him...While you're at it, ask Him to prove his existance by making you blind...

Or would you rather someone else ask Him for ya???
