Snip: "Syria is in confrontation with Israel. It is watching the situation and is ready to defend itself against any eventuality," said Elias Murad, editor of the ruling Baath party newspaper Al-Baath.
Snip: Syria will support Hizbollah and Lebanon against Israel's attacks on the country, the ruling Baath Party said on Friday, defying the Jewish state and its chief ally Washington.
"The Syrian people are ready to extend full support to the Lebanese people and their heroic resistance to remain steadfast and confront the barbaric Israeli aggression and its crimes," said a communique from the party's national command issued after a meeting.
It said Israel and the United States "are trying to wipe out Arab resistance in every land under occupation" and that President Bashar al-Assad was aware of the seriousness of the situation in the region.
Syrian officials demanded bribes
Snip: As thousands headed by road to Damascus to escape the Israeli military bombardment of Beirut, a group of UAE businessmen on Friday described chaotic scenes at the Lebanon-Syrian border and accused Syrian officials of demanding bribes.
Arriving at Abu Dhabi airport on Friday following an almost two-day journey from Beirut, Abu Mohammad, 36, said he was appalled by what he described as the "blatant corruption" of Syrian border officials and travel agents in Damascus.
"Our treatment at the border and by flight ticket agents in Damascus was utterly terrible and completely corrupt," he said.
In 1,000 sorties, Israel has hit 100 Hizbollah installations and military stores
Snip: Israels sea, air and land blockade and air bombardments of roads, bridges, airports and seaports are aimed primarily at preventing the delivery by Iran and Syria of replenishments for Hizballahs depleted weapons stocks and manpower reinforcements. Its purpose is also to block escape routes to Hizballah operatives.
Earlier Friday, Olmert approved new targets and declared all-out war on the Hizballah in view of the escalated Hizballah rocket offensive.
There you go again, posting some really great links. Thanks.
Never fear, I shut off my lawn sprinklers right before I came in and posted that (LOL) - we are thinking along the same lines definitely.
Ditto, Vel.
So many of us read every post, but have trouble finding the time to reply. I just happen to have a quiet few minutes tonight to post a bit. It won't last long. Grandbabies will be here soon to spend the night while Mom and Dad go to a party.
Guns stolen from police academy
SALEM, Va. (AP) _ Salem police are investigating the theft of several guns from the city's police academy.
The Cardinal Criminal Justice Academy is a regional training center used by area law enforcement departments.
Employees discovered on Wednesday that a rifle and several handguns were missing from a locker.
Police Sergeant Joe Mills says the academy does not have a security camera, but he says the weapons were kept in a secure, locked room.
Mills says there is evidence the academy was burglarized. The weapons were the only things missing.

LOL, ok sprinklers here are shut off.
Going to be very hot here in the upcoming days.
Trying to keep those flowers happy.
I can't even read every post anymore - though I do try...
Working too many hours, plus the kids are home.
We are leaving Sunday for a few weeks to the Upper Peninsula. I'm looking forward to a break.
Ditto here, but it'll be a heck of a lot warmer where the terrorists and evil nation's leaderships and supporters will be going one day - in fact it will be hotter than any days here on this planet! It amazes me how many countries in this world side with terrorists and Americans continue to vacation at and buy products from these fair-weather "friends.*" Even more so, the thought that we may be sending foreign aid to some if not all of them.
*I use that term very loosely
I keep telling my children..........."Pay attention! You are living what will be in the history books that your children will read."
Sure wears me out trying to keep up with it all.
Have a wonderful, well-earned break to the UP. It's beautiful there.
Have to end it for tonight. Grandkids are here.
I hear you and agree completely.
Thanks, have a good evening.
Major break in school bus radio theft (Las Vegas)
There's been a major break and an arrest in the case of hundreds of stolen school bus radios. Over the past five years, more than 800 two-way radios have been snatched out of Clark County school busses. Sources tell Kids First those radios are turning up in taxi cabs.
"We're hoping that the big domino effect will start now that we've brought one person into custody," says Metro's Lieutenant Ken Young.
40-year old Joy Francis has been charged with one count of felony possession of stolen property. School police expect more arrests to come. "The investigation is very large scale. Right now it encompasses two states. We're anticipating that we may go into two or more states," says Francis.......snip

I admire the parents who home-school in this time of liberal and moral corruption in our nation's schools. It is important imperative for parents to teach children what is going on in the world from a conservative standpoint so they get an accurate picture of events in today's world. It's not a bad idea to go over their homework or reading material as modern textbooks may present more or less than accurate information.
Cough cough ** after seeing the photo and reading the article about the hundreds of stolen radios ** still clearning throat and thinking about the name and the face....
Why, whatever do you mean, Mamadearest?
(kidding)
Here is some interesting reading that I can't post here for obvious reasons:
