Update:
WASHINGTON The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that President Bush overstepped his authority in ordering military war crimes trials for Guantanamo Bay detainees, a rebuke to the administration and its aggressive anti-terror policies.
Justice John Paul Stevens wrote the opinion, which said the proposed trials were illegal under U.S. law and Geneva conventions.
The case focused on Salim Ahmed Hamdan, a Yemeni who worked as a body guard and driver for Usama bin Laden. Hamdan, 36, has spent four years in the U.S. prison at Guantanamo...

That's even better. The terrorists say they won't surrender until all of us "infidels" are dead. That should be a long time. The guy will die in our custody.

Good point!
And why it is so important that we hold on to both houses of Congress in 2006 even if we do it with RINOS.

President Bush needs to get ahead of this and say something to the effect that the tools needed to fight this war on terror are being taken away.He also needs to say that Congress is charged with the setting up of courts and should forthwith establish a court to deal with those who fight against the US but not under the banner of a nation's armed forces. When will the Judiciary Committee begin doing their Constitutional duty?

"Okay. No more prisoners. Leave them dead on the battlefield."
That is what it is coming to. Our soldiers will have to have a lawyer with them on every search and destroy mission.

Well, now we know why the NYSlimes made it easier to transfer funding. Their Lawyer buddies needed a clear path to the money.

"No seating available on flights to Cuba....all available seats being reserved for ambulance-chasers for the forseeable future, to get those Middle East BIG BUCKS clients on their dockets....stay tuned."Well, there's at least that blessing: fewer lawyers on the Mainland for a while.

The leftists on the SCOTUS just gave the golden goose to the Democrats. The Democrats will shout "violated the Geneva convention" until they are blue in the face, take back majorities in the houses.
This paves the way for a far more reasonable trial for impeachment.
Which gives another golden egg of helping them in '08.
Bush's second most important focus right now is, as I've been saying, getting constructionists to fill any vacancy on any court he can.

What this says to me is that we DO in fact have the right to try them, and that the SCOTUS has really messed up in this ruling. Yes. We absolutely do have the right to try them. But the Supreme Court didn't say that we couldn't... it just said we couldn't try him like this. They'll have to give him either a regular criminal trial, or a military court martial.

GW should load all the Gitmo prisoners onto carriers, bring them to Washington, and distribute them equally: 1/3 to the SC, 1/3 to the House Libs, 1/3 to the Senate Libs, and say "ok, you take them home and take care of them."

[I think that the biggest backlash this will have will be against liberal SC judges, not the POTUS.]
I predict a huge backlash, but where and how it happens is up for grabs. Any American with half a brain, is going to be pissed.
