May I suggest a shareware program called Ad Muncher? You have to pay a bit for it, but it eliminates virtually all banner ads and popups. I have never had any problems with Drudge.
On the other hand, another cause of popups at the Drudge site may be spyware that you have contracted earlier from some other site.

No cookies, no scripts and no pop-ups/unders with FireFox and AdBlock, NoScript and FlashBlock.
Use Firefox and you'll be popup free.

Seriously, go to mozilla.com, and get firefox. After installing it, disable pop-ups, then click on Tools->Extensions, then Get More Extensions. Install Adblock, and also Adblock Filterset.G Updater. Restart firefox.
You might not see another ad for weeks.

I agree. And its not the technology needed to counter the pop-ups, its more the PRINCIPLE of the matter. They shouldn't be there in the first place, ready to exploit you just for going there. I have refused for years now to visit that site just because of them. Even wrote Drudge and said I wouldn't be back until they were gone. Sounds like more of the same.
Had the same problem with a Sony Viao.
Since I got a Mac G-4,with tiger, not a single pop up.
I have the pop-up problem solved, it's just all the damn madonna updates that annoy me.

Use Firefox. No popups on Drudge.
There are lots of good pop-up stoppers you can download from a number of sources.
I stopped using Google and switched to Clusty for searches.
I installed their "toolbar" which blocks 99.9% of popups I've encountered, even on Drudge.
Try a pop-up blocker and Firefox. Works for me.
Get Firefox. For further ad protection, install the Adblock Plus plugin, preferably any version labeled 0.7 or higher, then Google for Filterset.G to obtain a great set of definitions for the ad filter.
Looks like Rush has problems with his pop ups too.
