COLUMBUS, OHIO (6/20/06)-The House of Deputies of the 75th General Convention of the Episcopal Church today overwhelmingly refused to even consider a resolution that affirmed Jesus Christ as the "only name by which any person may be saved."

Where is the sin? I can still be rude and obey the "do unto others, etc. Does your religion say it is a sin to do unto others?
Maybe you like being treated unkindly? Most people don't. How I treat the least of God's people is the defining characteristic of a Christian. Jesus Himself told us this. (I realize you don't subscribe to all this, just making my point.) It is not OK to avoid murder and theft if you run around treating people like crap.
Are you saying that just because a person is imperfect he has sinned?
Yes. Every person fails to live perfectly without sin or attachment to sin.
If a person makes picks up the wrong fork at a formal dinner he has sinned? Does your church teach that?
That all depends. Did the person violate this social norm out of ignorance or out of a desire to shock and upset?
Show where I might be adding substantial unjustified harm into the world. I cannot see it.
I don't know you well enough to answer that. But if you think your existence is without serious imperfections that affect others, I suggest you go ask your wife. She'll be able to tell you your flaws.
Everyone must accept less than perfection as a goal. It's called being human. We make millions of decisions each day. If we strove for perfection, we would never get out of bed.
Yeah, live by that motto. Winners strive for perfection.

stick a fork in 'em they're done
According to most here, the way to salvation is through Jesus Christ.
If OBL came to your door seeking food and shelter, you would treat him courteously?
I don't know you well enough to answer that. But if you think your existence is without serious imperfections that affect others, I suggest you go ask your wife. She'll be able to tell you your flaws.
... affect others in a harmful and substantial way. She would say I do not.
Yeah, live by that motto. Winners strive for perfection.
Name one that strives for a perfect life? Every "winner" I know of has made compromises and rationalizations in his life.
I wonder how many God-fearing souls here have sinned and thus plucked out their eyes and cut off their hands? Or do we just obey the word of God as it is convenient to do so.
So....they don't believe in the New Testament anymore? Next week they'll announce that the Old Testament doesn't fit their life style either. And the next week, they'll join in with the Muslims in a Bible burning.
I realize I may be stretching here but I find this news astounding. So they are no longer a Christian church?
Thanks for the link to that Presbyterian thread. I shudder to think of what else may come out of their current General Assembly.
Right. But God set the original defination. Christ then clarified the rule.
The original statement from "Statshiu" was that there were many ways to God. There was only one way and that was to accept him (and later) by way of Jesus.
ie. Just being a good person does not get you into heaven.
