Well my good friends George and Laura have yet to see the movie United 93. To see it they have invited 2 people from each of the families of those that died on 9/11 aboard Flight 93. After a late lunch/early dinner with the President and First Lady but only one of us will be able to view the movie w/ them.
Since my mother has not seen it yet - but is ready to now - she will go in with them to view it...and I will get an up close and personal tour of the White House.
This, on the heels of Memorial Day, should be amazing. It's going to be heavy-duty on my mother but I think she'll handle it well....fingers crossed.
For anyone who has not seen it please do - it is amazing. You'll walk out having gone through every emotion possible in about 90 minutes...and you'll leave knowing full well why we are fighting.
Hope everyone had a safe and great weekend!
God Bless America,
Chris Proud son of Patrick 'Joe' Driscoll Flight 93
Never Forget Never Forgive
Took my 19-year old son to see it last night. We discussed the inevitability of reinstituting the draft and he and his younger brothers facing the prospect of being "boots on the ground" if we enter another broadscale war over Iran.
Very powerful. They oughtta clean up the language and some of the blood and put it on TV. And play it constantly. And play it every Sept. 11th from now on.
As my Pearl Harbor veteran Dad said after we took him back to Pearl on December 7, 2002, regarding the oil still seeping up from the USS Arizona some 60 years later:
"I saw it and I smelled it. I'll never forget!"
I was in DC on Sept. 11th, two blocks north of the White House. Cell phones were jammed. First person I got through to was my Dad, who was obviously distraught. He immediately declared it worse than Pearl Harbor.
That's right. Never forget.
yes...yes I am...
It is already available on DVD.
Sorry about your dad.
Thanks for sharing this news with us all this Memorial Day.
Please let us know how everything went.
OMG. I had never heard that. Makes my blood go cold ...
Please give your mother a special hug for all of us out here who wish we could be there in person. Pat Driscoll will be looking down at you all from Heaven.
Your Father is a hero to us all. Thank you for including us with this post.
"First person I got through to was my Dad, who was obviously distraught. He immediately declared it worse than Pearl Harbor. "
I went to check on my folks that day. Daddy's health was bad then and this didn't help him at all. He spent all day pacing and fuming and at one point wanted to go buy a gun. He was sure he'd need one again. The last time he had one was of course during WWII. Mother and I managed to talk him down by suppertime. We got him fed and got him to take a sleeping aid and to bed. Mother went to bed shortly there after, I went home and had an extremely tear racked break down.
Why would he? He lived it.
You are truly revolting.
Many prayers and blessings on your entire family, Chris. Without brave people like your dad, our future would be bleak, to say the very least.
Every person on that flight has earned our deepest respect. We are humbled as we stumble along the path they set for us.
Love to all.
God bless you, Chris.
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my miscellaneous ping list.
I'll add mine to those who've already said God bless you and your family. And I damn sure wish I didn't have to say it.
I haven't seen the movie yet, definitely want to go while it's still in the theatres.
Once again, this occasion illustrates the character and heart of our President. I'm sure it will also be terribly sad for he and Laura.
I'm so sorry you and your family had to endure this tragedy, and I hope you'll tell the President how many of us love and pray for him, and that we will NEVER FORGET.
Please ping me for your post after the visit, and God be with you and your family.
BTTT!
Where? Amazon.com lists the movie as;
"THIS TITLE IS CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE."
Somehow I get the feeling the SS takes a dim view of people running up to the First Lady sniffing and snorting. LOL.
